Introduction / Overview: Taste the Legacy of The Original San Francisco Sourdough™ in Irvine
For Californians, the name Boudin is synonymous with a rich and flavorful piece of state history. Established in San Francisco in 1849, Boudin Bakery holds the distinction of being the oldest continuously operating business in the city, its longevity built on the foundation of its legendary, proprietary San Francisco Sourdough™. The location on Main Street in Irvine, CA brings this celebrated Northern California tradition right to the heart of Orange County, offering locals a unique blend of historical baking and modern cafe dining.
Boudin SF operates successfully as a premier dual-concept establishment: a high-quality Bakery and a comprehensive Sandwich shop. The primary draw remains the freshly baked, tangy sourdough, which is made using a portion of the original "Mother Dough" starter culture cultivated during the California Gold Rush era. This tradition gives every loaf, baguette, and bread bowl its distinct and irresistible flavor.
Beyond the iconic bread, the Irvine location serves as an expansive fast-casual restaurant. It offers a full menu spanning all day, from substantial Breakfast Sandwiches and gourmet Crisp Salads to famous Soups and Chilis served in signature bread bowls. The establishment caters to every culinary need, whether a local is popping in for a quick loaf of fresh bread, settling down for a satisfying lunch, or picking up a complete Family Meal solution for dinner. The combination of its deep heritage and its commitment to culinary variety makes Boudin SF a beloved and essential dining spot for the Orange County community.
