Choosing where to spend your morning or lunch break is important, and for those in the Durham, NC, area, Bruegger's Bagels offers a compelling mix of tradition and convenience. The bagel was decent, but there was A LOT of cream cheese. It also seemed a bit overpriced. My sister got a BEC bagel and thought it was so so. All the tables were dirty too.

The quality of bagels has seriously declined in this area. I've been to the Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Brier Creek and Shiloh Commons locations and there is always an issue. This last visit to the MLK Jr. location I received 4 cinnamon raisin bagels that were burned and deformed. They were completely crushed flat on one side and the area was burned as well as the bottom. Deformed bagels are impossible to cut for a sandwich or cream cheese. By the way, the cream cheese is terrible and the overall flavor of the bagels has also diminished. At Brier Creek and Shiloh Commons when they cut to go bagels they are always sliced crooked and uneven. One side is a sliver and the other is too thick. Also at those 2 locations I've asked for a freezer bag when I ordered my to go bagels and they put hot bagels directly into a plastic bag. If you know anything about bagels you know the condensation is not good. Why don't the employees know this? Why can't I just get a decent bagel cut straight and a freezer bag thrown in the paper bag with the hot bagels for when they cool down? I mean, as a bagel company their only job is to know bagels. The prices keep going up and the customer service and product quality goes down. I'm really disappointed because I've been going to Brueggers since I was a kid and now I'm going to have to stop wasting my money there.

This used to be my favorite Bruegger’s because it’s close to my job and home. However, lately it has gone downhill. They have some new staff that isn’t up to par.One staff member in particular, Neci has upset me numerous time. Today I went in and got the same thing I get every week, a bagel with egg and cheese. She rung it up and it came up to be $5.04, I’m used to paying $4.61. I looked at the screen and saw she charged me for cheese and mentioned this to her. She said oh, we can’t void the cheese. They do it every time so I know they can but I didn’t make a big deal out of it. Last month she took my order and two other people’s orders back to back. She used the same paper to make all of our sandwiches. I had cinnamon sugar and ended up with poppy seeds all over it. Thank goodness I’m not allergic to any of their bagel toppings. I try to avoid her if at all possible. The food is decent, bagels are usually in stock and fresh but they’re pricey.

This location is the best! We live in chapel hill and we specifically drive to this location because how fast their service is! The staff is always welcoming and they hook your bagel up! You ask for a shmear of cream cheese and they give you a HEAFTY SHMEAR.
