About and visit notes

Welcome to the neighborhood favorite that’s been serving up “Jew-ish” deli classics with a playful, modern twist: Call Your Mother Deli in Crystal City. Conveniently located in Arlington, Virginia, this spot has quickly become a local staple for anyone craving a truly exceptional bagel experience, a hearty breakfast, or a satisfying lunch. It’s more than just a bagel shop; it’s a full-service bakery, coffee shop, and deli that brings a unique and vibrant food culture right to the heart of Crystal City and the broader National Landing area.

Call Your Mother is celebrated for its distinctive approach to the humble bagel. Unlike the typical New York-style bagel, which is boiled and baked for a chewy texture, or the sweeter, wood-fired Montreal style, the bagels here are a delightful hybrid. They combine the best of both worlds, resulting in a product that is both chewy and slightly sweet, often wood-fired, and covered generously in seasonings—such as the beloved Za'atar. Whether you’re a lifelong local or just passing through the DC-Metro area, Call Your Mother Deli offers a comforting and creative menu that’s sure to leave you satisfied and planning your next visit.

In a region bustling with dining options, Call Your Mother Deli stands out for its commitment to high-quality ingredients, many of which are made in-house, and a menu that balances nostalgic favorites with exciting, chef-driven creations. It's the perfect stop for a quick morning coffee run, a leisurely outdoor breakfast, or a power lunch, all delivered with friendly service and an inviting atmosphere.

What is Worth Choosing

For first-time visitors or long-time fans in Virginia, a few menu items at Call Your Mother Deli are considered absolute essentials. The Bacon Sun City ($11.77) is a customer favorite for a reason—the combination of savory bacon, gooey cheese, egg, and the signature spicy honey on an Everything bagel is a perfectly balanced bite of sweet, savory, and spicy.

For those looking for something a bit more adventurous and lunch-focused, the Jetski ($14.30), their brisket and pastrami "cheesesteak" on a cheddar bagel, is a bold and delicious choice. And don't forget to grab a side of the perfectly crispy Latkes ($8.25), which are a true testament to the deli's commitment to Jewish culinary tradition. Finally, to end your meal on a sweet note, the Cinnamon Roll Babka Muffin ($4.95) is often lauded as an incredible hybrid treat, marrying two of the greatest baked goods. Everything is delicious!! Love the flavored cream cheeses too. The staff is always so friendly and since it's outdoors you can just walk up with your dog to place your order (and they usually have a little treat for the dog visitors too). Highly recommend the mountain view, Boca club & Royal Palm bagels.

Super quick order and really friendly staff. Seating area is a free for all since there are other vendors but seems like there’s always a table somewhere.I got the Sun City sandwich. I feel like I’ve had this sandwich before and the bacon was a bit crispier. Still delicious, but might ask next time to have the bacon a bit crispier.

Great bagels and cream cheese. Wished they had more flavor options! Service is quick. The management is really nice!! This location is an outdoor area, so it’s more like a food truck feel.

I landed in DC and needed a cold coffee to start my day. I visited this shop and the experience was wonderful. Employees are extremely polite and friendly. The drinks are to die for. I enjoyed cold brew coffee and hibiscus lime drink. Will definitely come back every time I’m in town, and visit their other locations!

This relatively new location is the first CYM I have been to. I was very impressed with their lox bagel, the inclusion of cucumber makes for a refreshing and filling meal! Definitely try this place out if you get the chance. All outdoor seating so if it’s raining have a plan.
