Call Your Mother Deli - Vienna: An Overview

Call Your Mother Deli began its journey at farmer's markets, quickly growing a loyal following with its signature "Jew-ish" deli concept. The term "Jew-ish" playfully reflects a menu that honors the traditions of a classic deli while incorporating inventive, chef-driven twists inspired by co-owner and chef Daniela Moreira's Argentine heritage and fine-dining background. The result is a fusion of comfort food and culinary innovation, making it stand out among traditional Virginia eateries.

What sets their core product apart is the bagel itself. The deli takes pride in a recipe that is a careful blend of a classic New York-style bagel—known for its dense, chewy texture—and the slightly sweeter, Montreal-style bagel, which incorporates a touch of honey for a distinct flavor. The bagels are perfectly crisp on the outside and wonderfully spongey on the inside, serving as the ideal foundation for their creative sandwiches and schmears.

The Vienna location brings this acclaimed experience to the heart of Fairfax County, operating as a neighborhood bagel shop, a cozy coffee stop, and a full-fledged deli. Customers consistently praise the quality of the bagels, the richness of the ingredients (like the medium-thick cut bacon in their sandwiches), and the overall "explosive vibes" and welcoming ambiance of the space.

Had a great experience. Ordered online for pick up around 10 am on a Sunday. Food was ready promptly within 10-15min even though they appeared to be slammed with orders. I had the Bacon Sun City, no cheese. It was incredible. The bagel was an Everything, and it was coated from head to toe, just what I like to see. It had great sponge and bite to it; probably one of the best bagels I've had. The bacon was medium thick cut, cooked medium/well, you could taste and feel it, NOT lost in the sandwich like most places. Eggs were good. One of my favorite additions I've never had was the Spicy Honey that comes standard on The Sun City. Overall, it was a phenomenal experience. Definitely have my business in the future from the other local spot I go to every weekend just about. Great to have new flavors in town and options. Look forward to trying just about everything on the menu. Given the quality of the bagels alone, I wouldn't hesitate to order a dozen or more for my employees or friends. Just need a bag of bagels and a couple "Schmearz", everyone would be ecstatic. Thanks. Welcome to Vienna.

If I could give Call Your Mother 10 stars, I absolutely would! Words can’t do justice to how incredible their bagels are—perfectly crisp on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside, and packed with flavor. Whether you’re getting a classic everything bagel with schmear or one of their creative sandwiches, every bite is pure bliss. The ingredients are fresh, the portions are generous, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The staff is always friendly and efficient, making sure your morning starts off right. If you’re a bagel lover, this place is an absolute must-visit. Hands down, the best breakfast spot around!

Not our favorite branch, unfortunately. The service wasn’t great, and the food didn’t come out as well as it did at their Capitol Hill location. The space is also really small, and we had trouble finding seating. We got the Turkey Bagel and Sun City Bagel, both were just okay. We also tried the matcha, but it wasn’t great either. Overall, a bit disappointing compared to our experience at the other branch.

The name, Call Your Mother draws you in. And the food is what will make you come back for more. After passing multiple locations around the NOVA area, I decided to stop by and see what the hype is all about. Three words, “totally worth it.” OMG, if you’re looking for the perfect bagel that is as close to NYC, this place has the secret formula. We order a couple of bagels with a smear of butter and cream cheese. As well as a bagel with egg, maple chicken sausage and a CYOB hot sandwich with a zaatar bagel, egg, bacon, cheddar cheese and a honey oat latte. Everything was delicious, flavorful and tasty. The service was excellent, the staff was friendly, professional and courteous with SO many people and the vast range of questions. The rest room was very clean, and full stocked. I was in/out in no time with a bag of yummy food. The parking lot was tight, but there is plenty of spaces in the adjacent parking lot. If you’re looking for an alternative to the usual breakfast or brunch spots, please check out Call Your Mother, you will not be disappointed. Enjoy!

I got the sun city with pastrami and a cookie… the bagel was perfect… could say it’s as good as an NYC one… but let’s talk about that bomb cookie! Crumbl next door should be worried 😜
