Loved this place. I was there during happy hour and got a pizza and drink. They served a good portion of bread and butter also. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The youn server was excellent. I will go again, when in New York.

A tried their napoleon pastry, also known as mille feuille (pronounced mil foy). I found it to be light in flavor. The baked dough part of it had no flavor. The filling between the layers of dough was mild in flavor. I have had napoleons elsewhere that were much sweeter and more enjoyable. Their price was $9.80 with tax for the napoleon. Their location is at 8 West 40th Street, just off of 5th Avenue.

Went for dinner with a friend. The atmosphere upon entering was friendly, busy and a tad loud, but doable. We had a lovely seat in the window. While the waiter came right away to offer us water, there was a bit of a long wait until he returned to take our order. The restaurant had a few tables empty, though they did seem busy overall. We ordered the chicken paillard, and chicken Milanese. Both were mediocre and small dishes. My Paillard was a bit overdone/dry but mostly it was so heavily peppered that after two bites I couldn’t taste anything but pepper. It felt almost like brining my palate. I did not eat all donut and scraped the pepper of as much as I could though it was almost „burnt in“. The meal description had no mention of heavy peppering. The „accompanying salad“ were a few leaves of dry arugula and dried tomatoes. No dressing or even oil, just dry leaves of arugula and a bit of dried tomatoes. Overall quite underwhelming. My friend’s Milanese was heavily over-fried: color was dark brown and it was so crunchy that it broke apart and shot crumbles across the table upon cutting. His salad tasted good and was well-dressed.The service was not very attentive. I had to ask for water three times, after our glasses had been empty a little while. Waiters were curteous.I would probably not return.

We’ve tried many bakeries across New York City—famous ones, hyped ones, hole-in-the-wall gems—but Heritage Grand Bakery, right by Bryant Park, is hands down our family’s favorite. Our happiest moment every week, without fail, is when I walk through the door with a box from Heritage. Eyes light up. Slices are negotiated. Everything else pauses. When I go to Heritage, I’m not lingering or browsing. I’m on a mission. I don’t look at the price. I don’t register the decor. I couldn’t tell you if the staff smiled or not. I scan for my targets, secure the goods, and get out. My only objective: bring happiness home.People often rave about the pistachio cruffin—and sure, it’s good. But our hearts belong elsewhere: the Ispahan, the Chocolate Decadence, and whatever else I grab that week in a pastry-fueled haze. The Ispahan is floral and nuanced, with lychee, raspberry, and rose unfolding in sequence, like a dessert composed in movements. The Chocolate Decadence is exactly what it says: rich, layered, indulgent—but never loud or messy. It’s composed, almost architectural. Compared to these, many other bakeries’ offerings look (and taste) like unfinished construction material.Yes, they serve coffee—dark roast, slightly medicinal, oddly herbal. It’s fine. I never cared.Because at Heritage, I’m not here to chat. I’m not here to lounge. I’m here to deliver joy, in a white pastry box. And week after week, they help me do just that.

I’ve been few times in Heritage Bakery and finally I found ‘my favorite delight’. Pistachio cruffin deserves ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!!! Pistachio cream is not too sweet and so delicious. I tried Canele and Almond croissant - both were really nice as well. Chocolate cookie doesn’t worth the calories and I don’t recommend Matcha latte- it’s very weak and not hot enough.
