About and visit notes

Martha's Country Bakery is a prominent and well-known establishment in the Astoria neighborhood of Queens. It is a place that has built its reputation on offering a vast selection of classic American and European-style desserts, making it a popular destination for anyone with a sweet tooth. The bakery's atmosphere is often bustling and lively, with its display cases filled with an array of cakes, pies, pastries, and other confections. It has become a go-to spot for locals to grab a coffee and a slice of cake, meet with friends, or pick up a dessert for a special occasion. The sheer variety of its offerings is a key part of its appeal, providing something for nearly everyone.

The bakery is celebrated for its wide range of options, which often include familiar favorites like cheesecake and carrot cake. Many customers praise the deliciousness of these items, finding them to be a perfect treat. The menu is extensive, allowing patrons to explore different types of desserts, from creamy cheesecakes to layered cakes and more. One customer highlighted the cheesecake, carrot cake, and Berry Napoleon as personal favorites, even buying slices in bulk to have on hand. This practice of bulk ordering for personal consumption speaks to the quality and enjoyment people find in the bakery's products, making it a reliable source for satisfying a sweet craving.

However, it is worth noting that some customers have had mixed experiences, particularly with desserts that have a layered or delicate structure. A few reviews have mentioned disappointment with items like the Berry Napoleon and Ekmek, where the desired crunchy or flaky layers were found to be soft and soggy. Similarly, a pecan cheesecake was described as having soft pecans. These instances can be disappointing for patrons with specific texture expectations. It is a good reminder that while the bakery has a wide range of popular items, individual experiences with specific desserts can vary. The overall impression, however, remains that Martha's Country Bakery is a beloved and bustling spot with many delicious options to choose from.

Not recommended.Berry Napoleon - the puff layer was so soft and soggy. Didn’t expect to have a soggy napoleon and was so disappointed. I was looking for a crunchy one.Ekmek - the kataifi at the bottom was very soggy. Expected to have a crunchy kataifi layer but was disappointed as well.Pecan Cheesecake - pecan was not crunchy. Taste of cheesecake was okay.

My coworker brings us these cakes for every occasion and they are always so delicious. Moist, not overpoweringly sweet, and the icing is so good. Definitely recommend giving them a try!

Martha’s Country Bakery is a total gem—it’s honestly one of those places that just makes you feel good. I love their vegan cheesecake, which is out of this world. It’s rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced—not too sweet, not too dense. You’d never guess it’s vegan! The atmosphere is so charming and cozy, with that kind of old-school warmth that makes you want to sit and stay a while. Everything is beautifully displayed and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. Even when it’s busy, they keep things moving smoothly.Beautiful vibes, great variety, and that vegan cheesecake alone is worth the trip.

Really cute little spot to grab a sweet baked good. I highly recommend their large selection of cakes (specifically the cheesecakes). Can’t go wrong. To be wary, though. On holiday weekends or special occasions, it might be really packed and hectic in this tiny shop.
