About and visit notes

For California residents in the heart of the San Gabriel Valley (SGV), a region celebrated for its world-class Asian cuisine, the quest for authentic and high-quality Chinese baked goods is a daily affair. Momo Bakery, nestled in Monterey Park, stands out as a true local favorite, serving as much more than just a typical bakery. It functions as a delightful crossroads of Asian flavors, offering everything from light, airy sweet buns to a surprising selection of specialty cold foods and custom celebration cakes. This establishment is a prime example of the diverse and specialized local businesses that make the SGV a culinary destination.

Momo Bakery has earned its reputation by maintaining a vast and varied menu that caters to both a desire for comfort snacks and the need for special occasion items. The bakery’s extensive offerings ensure that whether you're craving a quick, savory breakfast or a beautifully decorated cake for a milestone birthday, Momo’s has you covered. It perfectly embodies the spirit of a community bakery: reliable, accommodating, and a purveyor of the distinct flavors locals seek out.

One of the most notable aspects of the customer experience at Momo Bakery is the incredible value and service, particularly with large orders. A satisfied customer highlighted how a cake, surprisingly affordable at $30, easily fed over nine people, far exceeding their initial expectations for the price. This same review praised the excellent customer service, which included providing essential, and often forgotten, party accoutrements like plates, a birthday sign, utensils, and a cake knife—a testament to the thoughtful, detail-oriented approach of the staff. The cake itself was described as "freshly made with fresh fruit and creamy light frosting," showcasing the quality and freshness that keep customers returning.

The core of the business, however, remains its expansive selection of baked goods. From sweet items like the Japanese Red Bean bun and the buttery Mini Pineapple Bun, to savory options such as the Dried Pork Hot Dog Bun and various ham and cheese selections, the bakery is a haven for fans of Asian-style bread and pastries. While one customer noted the need to sample a few different items to find a personal favorite—observing that some bread was 'delicious' while others were 'a bit dry'—this speaks to the sheer volume of choices available and the personal nature of taste. The commitment to a wide variety ensures that every visitor, no matter their preference, can discover a new go-to treat.

I accidentally found a bakery and bought some bread. Some of the bread was delicious, but some of the bread was a bit dry. But I might buy it again. I want to try all of them and I should find the one I like best. There are also some drinks for sale inside, but they are paid separately. Maybe they are just partners sharing some expenses. I think this is a good idea.

I expected this cake to be above $42. Surprisingly, it was only $30 and fed well over 9 people. The customer service was great. The provided plates, birthday sign, candlutensils. And most importantly, cake knife. This all came in clutch, since it was a work birthday and didn't have the proper utinsils. The cake itself was freshly made with fresh fruit and creamy light frosting. Momo's is where it is at!

Hello! The Trekking Pawns here! This area has so many hidden gems! From the outside the places does not look appealing, but when you walk in, the place is spacious and clean. So many choices for baked goods at reasonable prices. They had a special of buyer 8 and get 1 free. The pineapple with dried pork pastry was lovely! Highly recommend trying it. The taro pastry was okay, but not as flavorful as anticipated.

The bakery with super affordable buns and cakes. The pineapple bun with butter is a treat. Staff is brisk but not rude, and the line moves fast. They take cash and card now, which is convenient. Parking lot is small—be patient.

If you love freshly made Taiwanese bread, cakes, and pastries, this bakery in the San Gabriel Valley is a must-visit. Their cakes are fluffy and moist, with frosting that’s smooth and never overly sweet—unlike many American or Korean cakes, which can be too sugary. The balance is perfect every time, and when fruit toppings are used, you can tell they carefully select the best fruits for an extra-special touch.Their Taiwanese breads and pastries are equally impressive—fluffy, soft, and delicious without being overly salty or heavy. The sandwiches are also fantastic, making this bakery my go-to spot for both sweet and savory favorites. The bakery is well managed and clearly takes pride in its offerings. Inside, there’s an instant noodle ramen shop where you can make your own meal on the go with plenty of seating, plus a coffee and boba shop for a complete experience. If you’re in Alhambra, San Gabriel, Rosemead, or even nearby LA, this place is worth the trip. If you’re spending your money on food, spend it right—this bakery delivers every time.
