Introduction / Overview

For Texans craving a sweet experience that elevates far beyond the traditional glazed ring, Parlor Doughnuts in Flower Mound offers a truly unique and artisanal approach to the classic treat. Far more than just a donut shop, Parlor Doughnuts is a craft coffee shop and bakery that has earned recognition for its signature creation: the Famous Layered Doughnut™. Unlike typical cake or yeast doughnuts, this proprietary product features layers of buttery dough, much like a croissant, which is then fried to be crisp on the outside and wonderfully light and fluffy on the inside. This layered perfection creates a distinctive texture that sets it apart from any other doughnut experience in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

The name "Parlor" itself is inspired by the old-fashioned concept of a parlor room—the best-furnished room in a home where families and guests would gather comfortably to converse and share exceptional things. This reflects the shop’s mission to be a modern-day gathering spot, a comfortable setting where customers can enjoy a superior product, excellent coffee, and friendly service. The Flower Mound location prides itself on offering not just over 20 unique flavors of their famous layered sweets, but also a commitment to inclusivity, featuring a wide array of options for various dietary needs, including robust vegan/gluten-friendly and keto-friendly menus. With artisanal breakfast offerings and small batches of doughnuts made fresh all day, Parlor Doughnuts has established itself as a premier destination for Texans seeking a gourmet twist on their morning or afternoon indulgence.

Features / Highlights

Parlor Doughnuts stands out from traditional donut shops in North Texas thanks to its unique product and diverse menu.

  • Extensive Flavor Portfolio: The shop offers over 20 standard Layered Doughnut flavors (e.g., French Toast, Maple Bacon, Campfire, Turtle Cheesecake, Raspberry Pistachio, Plain Jane, all $3.45 each) plus a rotating selection of Seasonal Offerings (e.g., Apple Pie Filled, Pumpkin Chai Cheesecake, all $3.45 each).

What is worth choosing

Parlor Doughnuts is worth choosing for Texans who prioritize unique texture, flavor variety, and dietary accommodation. The absolute key factor is the revolutionary Famous Layered Doughnut™. This is not the familiar spongy or dense texture of a typical Texas yeast or cake donut; instead, it is a flaky, crispy, and buttery experience that must be tasted to be understood. This proprietary product justifies the visit alone, offering a gourmet, melt-in-your-mouth experience akin to a high-end French pastry, but with the fun and flavor of a classic American treat.

Furthermore, the shop's menu is highly commendable for its unmatched commitment to dietary inclusivity. For DFW residents managing specific diets, the dedicated and extensive menus for Vegan/Gluten-Friendly and Keto-Friendly doughnuts—each with multiple flavor options—are a significant draw. It’s rare to find a single shop that offers a full range of standard, vegan/gluten-friendly, and keto-friendly desserts, allowing groups with varied dietary needs to enjoy a treat together without compromise. The price points for these specialty items are competitive, with both specialty doughnuts priced at $3.95.

Finally, the full-service nature of the shop solidifies its appeal. Parlor Doughnuts is a versatile destination: a morning coffee spot with 'Great Coffee' offerings, a quick breakfast stop with Texas-appropriate items like Breakfast Tacos ($3.50 each), and a dessert haven. The option to grab a dozen of the decadent layered sweets (Classic Assorted Dozen is $29.40) or simply enjoy a quiet solo dining experience with specialty coffee makes it a flexible and valuable local resource. While customer reviews note the process of topping the unique base to order can lead to a slight wait time, the payoff is a fresh, decadent, and unique treat that is well worth the casual atmosphere and a few extra minutes of patience.

We came here for a sweet treat and coffee and wow these donuts are incredible. We got the campfire which was like s’mores. We got the French toast which was very maple flavored. We got the strawberry and it was very sweet, the coffee helped tame this one down a bit and the cinnamon sugar minis were the perfect little piece with the coffee. Please do yourself a favor and try this place. Very affordable too!

Searched for a Donut shop nearby. Parlor Donuts popped up. We were killing a few minutes before our reservations at a local attraction, so we dropped in. We ordered 4 donuts and a coffee. Turns out, this was NOT the donut shop we expected or wanted. These donuts are dripping, messy, difficult to eat and definitely not a traditional donut. We waited and waited, the time for our reservation loomed, Even though the donuts appear to all be the same base donut, with different flavors injected glazed, dripped or sprinkled on, every donut is topped to order. Turns out this takes a lot longer than you'd think it does. I considered asking for a refund and just leaving because I had no idea it was going to take this long. But eventually they brought out our stuff and we raced out of there. My family eating these wacky donuts in the car was not an easy feat. I didn't even get to eat mine as I was driving and these donuts require your undivided attention. If you are looking for something unique, Totally different, a little decadent, and have the time to lounge around and slowly enjoy your treat, this might be what you seek. But if you just want a quick pop-in and grab a donut, this is definitely not it.

We had a breakfast full of donut varieties and coffee drinks on a slow Monday morning. We were greeted by the nicest worker who seemed to be doing it all but working quickly to help everyone.Drinks-we forgot pictures but tried a brown sugar maple latte, lavender iced coffee, and honey cinnamon cold brew. The main things we focused on was how smooth the drinks tasted, especially the espresso. We also loved the fresh whipped cream!Donuts-we tried keto and regular donuts. The white sprinkled keto donut tasted similar to iced cake loaf and was perfectly sweet. The regular donuts had the same crispy, almost fritter like texture base with a soft inside and a simple glaze. Our favorites were Coconut Cream, Strawberry Shortcake, and the classic chocolate. These were super super sweet so we recommend a taco or something savory to pair with it.

First time decided to try this spot. Location and place itself looks very nice. Unfortunately service was not very good, we asked for lavender latte and girl said oh we dont have it like its not on their menu even tho its listed in their menu on the wall! Then she got back and said oh yeah we do have it. Probably new employee? Idk. We also got maple brown sugar latte, tasted horrendous. Lavender was not bad, but wish it had more foam. However their donuts very delicious. Highly recommend to come here only for donuts, its fresh. We were only one in the store and it took around 15 minutes to serve our order. Don’t recommend this place for coffee, and if you in a rush.

Today was my first visit here and I will definitely be coming back! Very clean, cute place. Breakfast tacos were very good served with a spicy green salsa. I got the French toast doughnut which was amazing. Be aware that the doughnuts are huge! I also got a matcha which was surprisingly great!! Recommend to anyone looking for a yummy breakfast spot. Service was quick and friendly too!
