About and visit notes

If you're a resident of the Upstate or the greater South Carolina region with an appreciation for artisan sweets, you owe it to yourself to discover Scout's Doughnuts in Greenville. Far from your average pastry shop, this local gem has established itself as a must-visit destination in the historic Overbrook neighborhood, redefining the doughnut experience with its unique, gourmet creations. Scout’s Doughnuts is more than just a bakery; it is a dedicated small business committed to community connection, which they believe is best enjoyed over fabulous food.

The core of their offering revolves around the celebrated "many-layered" doughnut. Unlike traditional yeast or cake doughnuts, Scout's Doughnuts crafts a product that has been described by patrons as having a delightful, croissant-like texture—flaky yet dense, airy, and light. This labor-intensive technique involves rolling and folding a sweet, yeast-risen dough with butter, similar to the process for making a classic French croissant. The result is a richer, more complex pastry that is closer to a dessert than a simple snack. This commitment to quality and artistry is what sets this Greenville establishment apart in the regional bakery scene.

Beyond the signature texture, the menu features a rotating selection of imaginative and decadent flavors that appeal to both classicists and the adventurous palate. Pair one of their exquisite creations with a skillfully made craft coffee beverage for a perfect morning or midday treat. Whether you're stopping by for a quick visit or planning to sit down and enjoy the bright, welcoming atmosphere, Scout’s Doughnuts offers a memorable experience that keeps local families and food enthusiasts coming back for more.

The bakery operates with convenient hours for the morning crowd and afternoon treat seekers. They are open Tuesday through Saturday from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, though it's worth noting that due to the popularity of their gourmet items, especially the limited-availability gluten-free options, it is highly recommended to arrive early or place a pre-order to ensure you get your desired flavors. Scout's Doughnuts is closed on Sunday and Monday.

Location and Accessibility

Scout's Doughnuts is proudly located in the heart of Greenville’s historic Overbrook neighborhood. The specific address is 1700 E North St, Greenville, SC 29607, USA. As a welcoming establishment, the bakery features a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a wheelchair-accessible restroom, ensuring comfort for all patrons.

When planning your visit, especially during peak morning hours, it is helpful to be aware of the parking situation. The bakery does have a free parking lot available, which is a great convenience. However, due to the popularity of Scout's Doughnuts and other nearby shops, the lot can sometimes be small or tricky to navigate. Local patrons often mention that street parking nearby can serve as a good alternative. The walk through the Overbrook neighborhood adds a nice local touch to your visit.

Edited to add more photos and to share about our latest experience where we went for donuts in the afternoon, it was slow after the morning rush and staff let our kids step into the kitchen area (a few steps into the entrance) to see where the donuts are made. The wholesome, friendly and kind vibes here just keep us coming for more. Thanks!——Excellent donuts and overall experience here for our family of 4 with two young boys. We’ve come here twice now and each time was great- this will be a regularly visited by us donut shop. The donuts are airy, layered and light textured. They resemble croissant texture and are covered with decadent and richly flavored frosting and sometimes filled with cream. All components are excellent and the flavors are fun and unique.Note these are not your average donuts-these are gourmet, craft donuts and so the price per donut reflects that but I find it’s reasonable. The coffee is excellent and they serve craft coffee beverages as well. The atmosphere here is wonderful. A donut shop I actually want to sit down and enjoy. Staff is welcoming, the place is clean, spacious and bright. They have a kid friendly corner with some kids books and tables. We have been looking for truly unique, craft donuts and this place is it! We are excited to keep coming back and tasting new flavors as they rotate them regularly.—————————The parking lot is small but there is street parking near by.

Fun atmosphere and off the beaten path, in the historic overbook Neighborhood. If you’re looking for a little local flavor and a fun place to take your kids for breakfast or a treat , this is it! With lots of creative flavors and the donuts are not as heavy as they look- they’re delicious. Took the middle school girls after a sleepover And they absolutely loved it!

Cute bakery specializing in donuts(that are like croissants) with a variety of flavors to choose from. Stopped in as I was running errands so I didn’t get a chance to eat my donut right away(vanilla buttercream), but when I finally did it was delicious and flavorful. Would definitely recommend.

Food - Did some searching and found Scouts Doughnuts for a late breakfast. We tried the Cinnamon Sugar and Vanilla Buttercream. We first split the Cinnamon Sugar which was soft and flaky, great doughnut. Next we split the Vanilla Cream and that stole the show. The amazing flavor of the buttercream paired with the soft flaky layers was incredible.Service - Order at the counter then grab a seat. Person was very friendly and personable. Great service.Restaurant - Interior was cleanand what you fully expect from a doughnut shop. Location parking could be a bit tricky as there is a sandwich shop that is also popular.Overall - Great flavor on the 2 we tried, but we were also eyeballing a few of the other flavors for a future visit.

We go to Harry’s Hoagie Shoppe all the time which is right next to Scouts. It's always so busy we figured we'd check it out while we waited for Harry's to open.First off it's a very pleasant place to visit inside. The young ladies working there were very nice and pleasant to deal with. Service was a 5 star for sure. The negative. The doughnuts are just ok to me. I got a morning bun and the wife got a coffee butter cream. The morning bun was pretty tasteless, needed way more icing because that was the only flavor on the whole thing. Her doughnut was the same, the buttercream frosting was good, but the doughnut was lacking. This was my first "cro-nut" which I know is the craze now. Maybe at 44 I'm just too old to get it, but I'm not impressed. This was a one and done for me. They are crazy popular and I'm ok with that, it's just not my thing.
