Was hesitant to come here because of the low reviews but pleasantly surprised! These bagels are NORMAL sized!! Such good dense seasoning on the everything bagel, cream cheese up to par! Prices are fair, a slice of pizza is literally $6 down the street. This place deserves more credit than it’s being given

In a city saturated with bagel shops, finding a place that truly captures the authentic essence of a New York bagel can be a journey. Shelsky's Brooklyn Bagels, located in the vibrant Park Slope neighborhood, is a destination for those who appreciate tradition, quality, and a menu that goes far beyond the ordinary. This isn't just another bagel shop; it's an institution that pays homage to the classic Jewish appetizing store while infusing it with modern creativity and an unwavering commitment to flavor. From the moment you step inside, you are greeted with the rich aroma of fresh-baked goods and the promise of a meal that is both comforting and exciting. Shelsky’s has built a loyal following by focusing on what matters most: perfectly crafted bagels that are dense, chewy, and the ideal size for a classic bagel sandwich. They have proudly resisted the trend of oversized, fluffy bagels, and their customers—many of whom are discerning New Yorkers—are thankful for it.
Beyond the bagels themselves, Shelsky's Brooklyn Bagels has earned its reputation through an impressive selection of high-quality ingredients. Their in-house prepared salads, smoked fish, and custom cream cheeses are a testament to their dedication to craftsmanship. They are a place where every ingredient has a purpose and is chosen with care, from the classic Nova lox to the more inventive jalapeño garlic cream cheese. This fusion of time-honored techniques and innovative flavors makes every visit a new culinary adventure. The friendly and knowledgeable staff, who are eager to offer recommendations and help you create the perfect sandwich, add to the welcoming atmosphere. Whether you’re a long-time local with a go-to order or a curious visitor exploring the neighborhood, Shelsky's offers a genuine taste of New York’s rich Jewish culinary heritage, proving that a true bagel experience is about more than just the bread—it's about the entire delicious package.
Shelsky's Brooklyn Bagels is conveniently situated at 453 4th Ave in Brooklyn, New York. Its location in Park Slope places it in a highly accessible area, making it a perfect stop for residents and visitors alike. The shop is easily reachable via public transportation, which is a major convenience for anyone navigating the city. The R train at Union Street and the F, G, and R trains at 9th Street are all within a short walk, providing multiple routes to get there without the hassle of driving. This prime spot on 4th Avenue means it is also well-connected to other key parts of Brooklyn and Manhattan. For those who prefer to drive, street parking is available, though it can be competitive during peak hours, as is typical for the neighborhood. However, the ease of public transit access makes it an ideal spot for a quick morning pickup or a leisurely weekend treat.
The shop's presence in Park Slope also means it’s part of a thriving, community-oriented neighborhood. Will definitely be coming back! I was around the neighborhood and came across this bagel store. I was unsure of what to get but thanks to the amazing customer service from Maggie, she definitely recommended something unique 😍 The sandwich it’s like a Clementine but instead of Gravlox it was substituted with Nova lox and instead of butter I added jalapeño garlic cream cheese! I will definitely be reordering this in the future! I loved the coffee, definitely made exactly how I like it ❤️
Jul 9 · joanna toxquiDelicious breakfast bagel sandwich, bagels, Order ready on time. Unfortunately, the corned beef was poor quality and taste and was thrown out. The meat was stringy, dark, tough, and tasteless $25 wasted. The pastrami $26.99 had no taste and was not high quality. Dissatisfied with both sandwiches. Live out of state, so cannot return. I grew up in Brooklyn and have had Carnegie deli and other Jewish deli corned beef, which are much better! Big difference ordering take out sight unseen as opposed to dining in. Would never order corned beef or pastrami here again. This review has been edited with more stars after contact from the owner who issued a refund and lengthy explanation.
Oct 26 · Jackie EmerandThe food amazing great place customer service amazing 10 out of 10 yesss coffee and chopped cheese beautiful 😎
Jul 9 · rafael CruzThe bagels are great, not dense, soft, fresh, but a bit bland. Interesting menu of different lox bagels, pastrami is outstanding. However, the lox sandwiches are the priciest in the neighborhood, unjustifiably so.
