For a first-time visitor in California looking for the quintessential Sunmerry experience, the sheer volume of choices can be daunting. The core appeal of the bakery lies in its fresh, soft bread and its inventive drinks. To truly experience what makes this bakery a local gem, we recommend focusing on the unique fusion items that represent the brand's Taiwanese and Japanese roots.
Start with a classic piece of bread, perhaps the popular Bolo or the chewy Mochi Taro, which perfectly showcases the soft texture that customers rave about. For a savory bite, the BBQ Bolo is a local favorite, offering a delicious Taiwanese pork filling inside the signature Bolo bun. The Garlic Parsley bread is also an incredibly aromatic and flavorful choice.
No visit is complete without sampling one of their signature desserts. The Hokkaido Cream Cake and the individual Cream Puff, lauded by customers for their generous, light whipped cream filling, are highly recommended. For those planning a party, the whole Rainbow Roll Cake is a stunning, eye-catching dessert.
Finally, pair your pastry with a specialty drink. The Taro Smoothie and Mango Matcha are excellent examples of the exotic flavor fusions that Sunmerry excels at. If you prefer a coffee-based beverage, the Tiger Coffee with its caramel stripe pattern or the Salted Cream Coffee offers a unique Asian café twist on your favorite drinks. Whether you are stocking up for the week, grabbing a quick breakfast, or seeking a unique cake for a celebration, Sunmerry Bakery in Arcadia is a vibrant and highly rewarding culinary stop in California.

Stopped in to try the cream puffs. The crème brûlée had the burnt sugar and a velvet custard inside. It was good but the puff pastry was a strange texture. We tried the regular flavor chocolate with cocoa nibs and a Boston cream pie looking one. It was a little pricey but okay. Maybe check it out they have lots of yummy looking treats. The place was clean and staff were nice.
May 30 · Lisa SmithHello fellow foodies!-Decent overall.- The pastries and breads were fresh, but some items lacked flavor and variety.- The staff was polite, but service felt a bit rushed.- The bakery was clean and had a nice atmosphere, but seating was limited.- It’s an okay spot for a quick snack if you’re at the mall, but not a must-visit.
May 27 · Justin HaI came out in here out from the rain on a Sunday afternoon trying to get in a little walk. Unexpectedly, there were a ton of people shopping and going about their business, but one place that caught my eye was a little café at the top of the stairs, Sunmerry Bakery. I noticed they had a good selection of drinks so I decided to have a Boba so since it’s been a while. I went for the honey tea since that’s what I usually like as a regular hot drink, but decided to go outside my comfort zone. Everyone was really friendly and there was no line. There were plenty of pastries and delicious looking breads, but decided against it since I’ve been working out lately. I got my drink and she gave me that thick straw that punches through the plastic which I find so satisfying. Soon as I took a sip, there was a large back up at the bottom of the cup and couldn’t get anything. I blew out the straw and got a nice sip of that honey tea which is also delicious. Once I got my sea legs back, I was drinking up the Boba. It was so good. There’s definitely a process to this. I found them a little bit on the chewy side, but it just made them last longer. I’ll be definitely be coming back here more often for the friendly service and a little dry time if it’s raining.
Mar 21 · Karla MolinaOrdered an Almond Croissant, Custard Danish, Bolo, and a Medium Ube Taro Cold Brew Latte. The Almond Croissant was very light in texture and the powdered sugar was just the right amount. The Custard Danish was very good too with a generous sweet custard filling. And the Bolo was very airy too, again a pretty good pick here. The Latte was very good, make sure to mix well or use a straw because the ube seems to be denser than the coffee and will separate. Once you've got them mixed, the ube's sweetness does complement the coffee quite well. The size is pretty good for a medium though I'll have to remember to order less ice next time (personal preference), not a complaint about the amount of ice given.
