This is not a croissant bakery. This is a cornetto bakery!!! I cannot believe I have found a cornetto bakery in the US. I had been looking for cornetto since my Italy trip last year. I got so excited and ordered every flavor. I love the apricot one and hope they make a honey cornetto soon. I think this place should promote themselves as an authentic Italian cornetto bakery rather than a croissant bakery. If people expect a French croissant that are common in the US, they may get disappointed. This bakery needs a better marketing/PR strategy because I am sure there are many people who miss a cornetto and they will appreciate this place.

About and visit notes
Introduction / Overview: The Croissant Spot – A Taste of True Italy in San Jose
The Croissant Spot, situated in the heart of San Jose, is far more than its name suggests; it is an authentic Italian bakery specializing in a truly unique culinary experience for the California community. While it is marketed as a 'Croissant' spot, patrons who are familiar with traditional Italian fare celebrate it as a rare find—a true Cornetto bakery.
For those unfamiliar, the Italian Cornetto is the Italian cousin of the French croissant. The crucial difference is that the Cornetto is made with a richer dough containing eggs, more sugar, and sometimes aromatics like vanilla or citrus, resulting in a pastry that is softer, sweeter, less flaky, and more brioche-like than the very buttery, crisp French version. It is the quintessential Italian breakfast pastry, often enjoyed dipped in a cappuccino. The bakery excels at this sweet, soft-layered pastry, offering a dazzling array of fillings, including Pistachio, Apricot, and the ever-popular Nutella.
Beyond the signature Cornetto, The Croissant Spot showcases an extensive menu of genuine Italian staples, from classic layered pastries like Sfogliatella and unique Roman-style flatbreads called Pinsa Romana to favorite desserts like Tiramisu and Sicilian Cannolo. The focus here is on quality ingredients, authentic preparation, and providing a quick, delicious escape to Italy right in Silicon Valley.

Features and Specialty Highlights
The bakery’s extensive and unique menu is filled with authentic Italian treats that distinguish it from standard American or French bakeries in the region:
- Authentic Cornetto: The primary highlight is the celebrated Cornetto, which is sweeter, softer, and more bread-like than a traditional French croissant. Must-try filled options include the highly-rated Apricot Croissant (Cornetto), Pistachio Croissant, and Nutella Croissant.
- Pinsa Romana: This is a noteworthy savory specialty. Pinsa is a hand-pressed, oval-shaped flatbread made with a blend of flours, which is lighter and easier to digest than traditional pizza. Toppings range from classic Margherita to gourmet Pinsa Mushroom Truffle Salame.
- Italian Dessert Classics: Indulge in an array of difficult-to-find Italian pastries, including the famed layered, shell-shaped Sfogliatella (filled with ricotta and candied orange peel), the soft, custard-filled Maritozzo, the fried and filled Krapfen (Italian doughnut), and the classic Tiramisu.
- Gourmet Chocolate and Hazelnut Focus: The menu emphasizes the use of beloved Italian ingredients, notably featuring items like the rich Nutella Latte, Nutella Croissant, and the decadent Mini Nutella Beignets.
- Holiday Specialties: During seasonal periods, the bakery offers traditional Italian holiday sweets, such as various flavors of Panettone (including Pistachio & Chocolate and Limoncello), Colomba Classica (Easter cake), and gourmet imported items like the Dolce & Gabbana line of pastries.
- Vegan and Gluten-Friendly Options: Demonstrating inclusivity, the menu offers selections like the Vegan Croissant With Blueberry & Chocolate Chips (made with farro flour) and the Gluten Free Mini Caprese Cake, ensuring options for those with dietary preferences.

I ordered from this place via DoorDash and so I won't be able to speak to service or atmosphere too much but will talk about food:I ordered a few croissants but have only had the normal butter croissant. I ordered first thing in the morning and so I think it was still warm when it was delivered. It was pretty light, flaky and buttery. It was not the best croissant I have had but it was also not as dense as an Italian cornetto.Overall, solid croissant and considering delivery was very quick and ready by time DoorDash got there, service assumed to be good.
Jul 11 · Don LeIf you love croissants- this is not the place to go. They look as if they may have great Italian breakfast pastry- but I was looking for croissant- they were horrible- the inside had not been given time to rise, it was a doughy mess. I love croissant- and try them everywhere I go, this place, for croissants is a strong pass. Maybe try their Italian pastry.
