About and visit notes

Serving the residents of the South Suburbs of Illinois, The Great American Bagel in Orland Park is much more than a simple purveyor of morning breads. This establishment functions as a multifaceted food service destination, successfully combining the artisanal focus of a traditional Bagel shop with the expansive menu and service of an American restaurant and dedicated Takeout Restaurant. It is the go-to location for those seeking not only a high-quality, scratch-made Bagel but also a full-service breakfast, lunch, or catering solution.

The core identity of the business remains rooted in its baking heritage, offering classic favorites like the Bagel Made From Scratch and bulk options such as the Baker's Dozen (13). However, the menu quickly expands into a comprehensive offering, positioning it as a leading local Sandwich shop. Patrons can explore hearty options from the All American Sandwiches list, featuring Roast Beef and Corned Beef, to the more adventurous Specialty Sandwiches like the Midwest Moment or the classic Lox & Cream Cheese. This commitment to variety extends to warm options, including a range of Panini selections like the Chicken Pesto Panini and the savory Cuban Panini. This diverse menu ensures that local Illinois users can satisfy cravings at any hour, whether for a quick morning start or a substantial midday meal. The extensive selection, including items like Gourmet Soups and Fresh Salads, firmly establishes this Orland Park location as an essential, all-day food resource for the surrounding community.

The prime location of The Great American Bagel is a significant advantage for Illinois patrons. Situated at 9189 151st St, Orland Park, IL 60462, USA, the shop is central to one of the area’s most vibrant commercial districts. This positioning ensures excellent visibility and ease of access for customers traveling from nearby communities, making it a convenient stop whether for a daily coffee run or picking up a Corporate Party Pack for a local business gathering.

For those driving, the location offers highly desirable, hassle-free parking with both a Free parking lot and supplementary Free street parking options available, eliminating a common point of frustration for suburban diners. More importantly, the facility is fully committed to universal access, featuring a Wheelchair accessible entrance that provides easy, unrestricted entry. This accessibility is comprehensively supported by a designated Wheelchair accessible parking lot and a Wheelchair accessible restroom, ensuring a fully comfortable and accommodating experience for all local users. This commitment to convenience and inclusive design is highly valued by the Orland Park and wider Illinois community.

The flexibility of service at The Great American Bagel is tailored to meet the diverse and often demanding schedules of Illinois residents, offering four distinct ways to enjoy their menu:

  • Delivery: For ultimate convenience, delivery service is available, enabling customers to enjoy items like the Chicken Bacon Club or a dozen Super & Specialty Bagels from the comfort of their home or office. This is particularly useful for corporate orders or busy mornings.

  • In-store pickup: This option allows patrons to place orders ahead—perhaps one of the Wednesday Bundle deals or a pre-ordered tray of Fresh Salads—and collect them quickly without waiting. This is perfect for those utilizing the "Quick visit" planning amenity.

  • Takeout: The traditional grab-and-go service is available for spontaneous stops. Customers can swiftly pick up a Lg Soup or a delicious Egg & Cheese, Bacon sandwich from the Breakfast Anytime menu, making it ideal for commuters or those running errands in the Orland Park area.

  • Dine-in: Unlike many dedicated takeout operations, this location offers a Dine-in option. This allows patrons to relax, enjoy their meal—from a Hot Tomazzo with Cream Cheese to a Chicken Cobb Salad—in the establishment, and take advantage of the Restroom amenity.

This quartet of service options—Delivery, Pickup, Takeout, and Dine-in—ensures that the great quality food is accessible under virtually any circumstance, reinforcing the shop's role as a versatile American restaurant for the local community.

The features and highlights of this Orland Park bagel shop extend well beyond its core product, establishing it as a highly versatile and modern dining venue for the Illinois region.

  • Extensive Coffee and Beverage Program: Beyond the standard Fresh Brewed Coffee, the establishment features a full espresso bar. Offerings include sophisticated options like the White Chocolate Mocha, Café Latte, Caramel Macchiato, and various Cold Espresso Drinks such as the Iced Coffee and Mocha Latte. This comprehensive menu positions it as a serious competitor among local coffee shops.

  • All-Day Meal Solutions: The "Breakfast Anytime" dining option means favorites like the Popeye Omelet and Asiago Omelet are available throughout the operating hours, not just in the morning. This is complemented by diverse lunch options, including dedicated Veggie sandwiches like The Avocado and Mediterranean Hummus & Veggie, and comforting choices like Gourmet Chili.

  • Catering and Bulk Value: Value is built into the bulk Bagel deals, such as the Wednesday Dozen and the large Corporate Party Pack. These options highlight the shop's capability and focus on serving both individual customers and larger groups for events and gatherings in the South Suburbs.

  • Modern Transaction Efficiency: The convenience factor is amplified by the acceptance of multiple modern Payment methods, including Credit cards, Debit cards, and secure NFC mobile payments. I ordered a plain bagel with cream cheese. I didn't watch them make it because I was filling my Fountain drink. When I got home, I opened up my bagel and found that there was a miniscule smear of cream cheese in the bagel. The cream cheese didn't even cover the bagel. See picture s.

I ordered two bagel sandwiches around 2:20 on July 13th. One was an Asiago Omelet with turkey on the side and the other was a veggie supreme. The sandwiches both taste fine, but when I tasted a small piece of the turkey something was off. It also smelled bad like it was spoiled. I didn't eat it at all. From that one little piece I ate my stomach started hurting an hour later. I think this is the last time I visit this location. Besides that the location is always clean and the customer service is ok. I hope I didnt get fed something off the ground or that was meant to be thrown away.

I came in and nothing was left but chicken noodle soup. I asked her for three cups. In one of the cups the worker poured just broth and I let her know it’s empty. Her response was “take it or leave it.” She was soooo unfriendly! I definitely won’t be buying them from again. Kindness goes along way and it’s how I become a loyal customer.
