About and visit notes

When Washington locals crave an authentic, high-quality doughnut experience perfectly paired with an exceptional cup of coffee, Top Pot Doughnuts is a name that consistently rises to the top. This isn't your average pastry counter; it is a Seattle-born institution that elevates the humble doughnut to an art form, backed by a commitment to hand-forging techniques and a passion for in-house coffee roasting. The South Lake Union location, conveniently situated on Terry Ave N, serves as a daily destination for professionals, residents, and visitors seeking a moment of casual indulgence.

Top Pot Doughnuts distinguishes itself by offering a vast and varied menu of over 40 daily selections, categorized to satisfy every preference. The core of their offering includes four main types of doughnuts: the dense, perfectly crumbly , the substantial , the light and airy , and the generously sized . Among these, Washington residents have particular favorites, such as the critically acclaimed , which devotees swear by, and the highly popular , noted for its perfect balance of fruit, cinnamon, and pillowy dough. The commitment to quality is evident in every bite, offering a delightful texture that is never overly greasy.

However, a visit to Top Pot is truly incomplete without exploring their beverage program, which has earned a reputation for serving some of the best coffee in Seattle. Top Pot takes coffee just as seriously as their doughnuts, hand-roasting their own beans in small batches right in downtown Seattle. They use 100% specialty grade Arabica coffees, carefully sourced from the world's best co-ops and estates across Latin America and Africa. Their proprietary blends, such as the espresso blend and the drip coffee blend, are roasted to a full city roast—the lighter side of the spectrum—to allow the beans' subtle nuances of flavor, like notes of chocolate, caramel, and honey, to shine through. This dual commitment to excellence in both pastry and beverage ensures that a chocolate bar paired with a perfect latte creates an unparalleled morning experience.

I went to Top Pot around right when they opened at 7 am. I bought an Oreo topped donut and an old fashioned donut.Taste: The donuts are incredibly sweet, one donut is more than enough. The donuts are really thick and a bit dry. I was disappointed that although I arrived close to opening on a Monday, the donuts did not taste very fresh.Price: Each donut is $2. I did not order one, but drinks seemed to be around $3-$5.Menu Choices: There was a good variety of donut choices at Top Pot, but I wish they would have a menu with the donut flavors listed or have a sign in the display, so that I could know what was what without having to ask.Overall: I’d prefer to get a 99 cents donut at 7/11 or QFC next time, but if you like cakey and very sweet donuts you might enjoy this place more than I did.

A solid apple fritter here. Pretty dense. Wanted a smidge more apple flavor. The lemon old fashion was tangy and tasty.
