It's a spot that sparks conversation and invites a fresh perspective on what a "bakery" can truly be, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with a selection of spirits, wine, and beer.

Win Son Bakery has carved out a niche for itself, differentiating from conventional bakeries by offering a full dining experience that extends beyond just pastries. It aims to showcase Taiwan's culinary landscape with a fresh perspective, making it an intriguing destination for adventurous eaters in the New York metropolitan area. Its reputation, while varied, highlights its commitment to innovation and its place in Brooklyn's dynamic gastronomic environment. For locals, it represents an opportunity to explore new flavor combinations and enjoy a meal in a lively, modern setting that has become a notable part of the Williamsburg community.

Win Son Bakery is conveniently situated at 164 Graham Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11206. This address places it squarely in the bustling and highly desirable Williamsburg neighborhood, a hub for food, culture, and community in New York City. Its location on Graham Avenue ensures excellent accessibility for both local residents and visitors from other boroughs. Williamsburg is well-served by New York City's extensive public transportation network, making Win Son Bakery an easy destination to reach.

The L train, a major subway line, has a station (Graham Avenue) just a short walk away from the bakery, providing a direct link to Manhattan and other parts of Brooklyn. Several bus lines also operate in the vicinity, offering additional transit options for New Yorkers. For those who prefer to bike, Williamsburg is known for its bike-friendly streets. While street parking can be challenging, as is common in many popular New York neighborhoods, the ease of public transit makes it a highly accessible spot for anyone looking to visit. The lively atmosphere of Graham Avenue itself, with its array of shops, cafes, and eateries, adds to the overall appeal and convenience of the bakery's location within the vibrant Brooklyn landscape.

Win Son Bakery offers a broad and distinctive menu that goes beyond typical bakery fare, incorporating Taiwanese-American influences across its breakfast, lunch, and dinner services. Their unique approach aims to provide a comprehensive culinary experience. Here's a breakdown of their key offerings:

  • Unique Pastries (Gāodiǎn): This is a strong highlight, featuring inventive items such as the Millet Mochi Donut (gluten-free and praised for its chewy texture), Fermented Red Rice Donut, Custard Toast, Date Cake, and various Bolo Baos (like the Chocolate Bolo Bao and Laminated Bolo Bao). These fusion pastries offer a novel taste experience for New Yorkers.

  • Signature Scallion Pancakes: A staple on their menu, these are featured in various savory sandwiches. Options include Egg + Cheese (Havarti), Bacon Egg and Cheese (BEC), Veggie Milk Bun, Jiucai Pancake (chives, shallot sauce), Shrimp, Pastrami Beef Tongue, and Mortadella varieties. While some reviews mention inconsistencies in texture or oiliness, many consider these a key attraction and a unique spin on a classic.

  • Savory Dishes (Xiǎochí + Sālā / Small Bites + Salad): Beyond breakfast sandwiches, they offer items like Pan-Griddled Pork Buns, Pork Fan Tuan (sticky rice rolls), Veg Fan Tuan, Fries with Jojo spice, Shrimp Turnip Cake, and various salads such as the Golden Sesame Caesar and Snow Pea Salad. This extensive savory menu makes it a viable option for full meals.

  • Burgers + Sandos (Dinner, 3:30pm-10pm): In the evenings, the menu expands to include Double Smash Cheeseburgers, Veggie Burgers, Fried Chicken Milk Buns, and Sanbeiji Chop'd Cheese, catering to a dinner crowd looking for more substantial fare.

  • Coffee and Specialty Beverages: The café offers a range of coffee options (drip, cold brew, espresso, lattes, cappuccinos with unique flavors like five-spice or black sesame), various teas (oolong, green, jasmine), and sweet/unsweetened soy milk. Some specialty drinks like the Date Caramel Latte have received high praise.

  • Alcoholic Beverages: Win Son Bakery also serves a selection of beer (Taiwan Beer Classic, local craft beers) and inventive cocktails, including unique concoctions like the Taipei Iced-T and Lao Gan Marg, enhancing its appeal as an evening spot.

Win Son Bakery distinguishes itself through several unique features and highlights, though, as noted by some customer feedback, experiences can vary. Its innovative approach to Taiwanese-American cuisine remains a central draw for many New Yorkers:

  • Pioneering Taiwanese-American Fusion: The bakery is lauded for its fresh and inventive take on Taiwanese cuisine, blending traditional flavors with American culinary influences. This fusion creates a unique menu that stands out in New York's diverse food scene.

  • Acclaimed Pastries and Donuts: Items like the Millet Mochi Donut (noted for its excellent "QQ texture" – chewy and bouncy) and Fermented Red Rice Donut are frequently highlighted as must-try items, showcasing their pastry chef's innovative skills.

  • Inventive Scallion Pancake Sandwiches: The use of crispy, chewy scallion pancakes as a base for breakfast sandwiches (like the BEC and Mortadella egg sandwich) is a signature offering that has garnered significant attention, providing a unique alternative to traditional breakfast fare.

  • All-Day Dining and Evening Offerings: Unlike many bakeries, Win Son Bakery offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, transitioning its menu to include substantial savory dishes, burgers, and cocktails in the evenings, making it a versatile destination for different meal times and occasions.

  • Vibrant Ambiance: Described as having a "beautiful place," "great vibe," and a "crisp, modern" interior with blonde wood tables and exposed brick, the ambiance contributes significantly to the overall dining experience, creating an inviting atmosphere for patrons.

  • Expansion to East Village: The opening of a new location in the East Village indicates their growing popularity and ability to replicate their unique concept in different parts of New York City, making their offerings more accessible to a wider audience.

this was a bit disappointing, especially with how many good things I've heard about it. I didn't dislike the food at all, it wasn't bad, but I also didn't love it either.the thing is: none of the places I went to in New York have been BAD, but this is one of the places that I won't be going back to. even if I was super craving Taiwanese food, I don't think this place properly satisfies that itch. maybe for people who've never had Taiwanese food before?

What a beautiful place. I think the wonderful service and great vibe earns it a star, but the food was really disappointing, especially for the price. I didn't expect authentic Taiwanese food, but I was surprised at the food that did come out. The scallion pancakes felt more like frozen than they did actual scallion pancakes. The soy milk didn't really taste like soy milk.

Win Son Bakery is a true gem in Brooklyn!! everything I've tried has been so good, but I have to give a special shoutout to their BEC scallion pancakes. The pork is insanely flavorful and tender, and the scallion pancake sandwich with bacon, egg, and cheese? A total game-changer. Crispy, savory, satisfying... I could eat it every day.Their menu is creative with bold flavors. Everything is made with care and intention you can really taste it.If you're in Brooklyn and craving something unique and delicious, Win Son Bakery is a must. Trust me go hungry!

I have been dying to go here for years and finally got to try it out - so worth the wait. I got the mortadella & pickled peppers sandwich which was absolutely delicious, along with the red rice donut. I had my dog with me and all of the employees were super sweet to him, along with letting us bring him inside which was very kind. I need to go back and try the other items ASAP
