Features and Highlights of the Menu

The menu at Alaskan Sourdough Bakery is built around two key elements: its heritage sourdough and a commitment to hearty, satisfying meals. What is Worth Choosing: Focusing on Value and Quality

For Seattle residents and those exploring the city, the Alaskan Sourdough Bakery stands out for several compelling reasons that go beyond the standard bakery fare. Choosing this spot is a decision to prioritize authentic flavor, quality ingredients, and a unique location.

The Sourdough Foundation: Everything here starts with the bread. Unlike many commercial bakeries, their commitment to a historic starter and traditional process means you get a genuine, deep-flavored sourdough that truly elevates everything it touches. The bread is a regional staple and a must-try for any Washington food enthusiast. Whether you get a plain loaf or a sandwich built on it, the quality is evident.

A Full Meal Experience: While some might see it as primarily a bakery, the extensive menu transforms it into a full-service breakfast and lunch destination. Where else can you grab a fresh Double Sour loaf for home, enjoy a hearty Golden Sampler omelet, and finish with a rich Double Chocolate Brownie all in one stop? The combination of bakery items, hot paninis, fresh salads, and soups (especially the beloved Clam Chowder) makes it an incredibly versatile stop. Customers consistently praise the quality and freshness, noting that sandwiches are made-to-order.

Unbeatable Location and Convenience: You are dining right on the historic Pier 57. The experience of enjoying a warm Reuben or soup with the energy of the Seattle waterfront around you is a key part of the appeal. While prices might reflect the high-traffic, tourist-friendly location—a detail noted by past customers—the quality and convenience for a quick visit (Planning: Quick visit) make it a worthwhile choice. You get a fast, satisfying, and high-quality meal in one of the most exciting parts of the city, perfectly blending local flavor with a memorable atmosphere.

The food was fresh as sandwiches are made as ordered. The reuben on sour dough was delicious and tomato bisque very flavorful. Pricey? A little, but it's a tourist area, so that's to be expected. Highly recommend for a quick lunch.

Let me start by saying, this was an extremely difficult visit to rate. The ambiance was lovely, the cases were stocked beautifully, and the staff were genuinely friendly. Our order took a little longer than we expected but when we recieved our food, everyone was pleased with both the bacon and sausage breakfast sandwiches and called them 5/5.Our drinks were a whole 'nother story. First, they took an extremely long time. Second, the mocha and the vanilla latte we ordered were practically tasteless (of coffee, chocolate, or vanilla), had the wrong mouth feel, and was not hot enough. The hot chocolate we received was EXTREMELY hot. So much so that after letting it cool for 10 minutes, it was still undrinkable. The barista was nice and friendly, but he must have been filling in or something because he definitely was not someone who makes espresso drinks or foams milk on a regular basis.Again, the people were great and the food was great. Unfortunately, our group agreed that the disappointment in our beverages was enough to tank our rating of this spot.I would probably return for a loaf to-go but I would not recommend the hot beverages.

I had the pleasure of visiting a fantastic bakery from Vancouver during my trip to Seattle, and it quickly became my go-to spot for breakfast! Located near the waterfront, this place offers an impressive selection of vegetarian options, perfect for anyone looking for a hearty and satisfying meal.We tried the grilled cheese with tomato basil bisque, which was absolutely delicious—the soup was rich and comforting, and the bread was perfectly crunchy. The vegetable eggs with two slices of sourdough were a great way to start the day, and the vegetable sandwiches and pesto panini with mozzarella cheese were equally impressive. The sourdough bread is simply amazing, with the perfect balance of flavor and texture. This bakery offers quality food at reasonable prices, making it a must-visit for breakfast lovers. I highly recommend trying their soup with crunchy bread—it’s the best!

A very old restaurant. Went there with high expectations and just when the food came it immediately bursted. The clam chowder was too thick and the bread bowl was not good to taste. It tasted over baked, dry and chewy. We took another burger which was small compared to the price. Smoked salmon burger or sandwich was small and not good at all. We only loved the chocolate covered croissant. We never tried a croissant with a thick layer of chocolate ever. If, only, we order this and not ordered the other ones this review would have changed. The guy who took our order was nice. Informed me that the clam chowder does not have any meat item in it.The place was somewhat clean despite the rain outside. However the tables are not cleaned and so is not the floors around the seating area.
