What Makes Amélie’s French Bakery & Café Worth Choosing

Choosing Amélie’s in Carmel Commons means selecting an experience over a simple transaction. For the North Carolina resident, it represents a unique combination of European charm, culinary excellence, and exceptional local convenience. The fact that the bakery is a women-owned business further adds to its appeal for patrons who wish to support local, diverse enterprises. The atmosphere, frequently praised by visitors, is designed to be a comfortable retreat, offering free Wi-Fi and a welcoming space for all, including the LGBTQ+ friendly crowd.

While the vast majority of experiences are highly positive—as exemplified by a customer enjoying the perfectly balanced Raspberry Iced Tea and the subtle flavor of the Yogurt & Granola—it is important to note that logistical challenges can occur with any high-volume service provider, particularly concerning third-party options like delivery. One recent customer experienced an issue with a delivery order and the subsequent customer service response related to the delivery platform refund. However, this appears to be an isolated incident concerning delivery logistics and fulfillment accuracy, not a reflection on the high quality of the in-house product, which remains consistently lauded. The true value lies in the Dine-in and in-store services, where the freshness of the Pistachio Croissant Roulette or the depth of a Chocolate Petit Gateaux can be fully appreciated. For quality, atmosphere, and versatility—from a full French restaurant experience to a specialist Wedding bakery—Amélie’s offers unparalleled value in the Charlotte market, making it an essential destination for anyone seeking authentic and memorable baked goods.

Atmosphere was fun and warm. Ordered the yogurt with granola and berries with raspberry ice tea. I enjoyed both! The granola was soft it a hint of cinnamon. I like my tea not too sweet and this one was just right. Pricing was not outrageous for portions or quality. Would recommend!

I ordered from Amélie’s French Bakery & Café through DoorDash and was extremely disappointed. I paid for the French Italian sandwich with extra prosciutto (receipt attached), but instead I received a plain sandwich with just turkey and spinach. This is nothing close to what I ordered.I even called the bakery, but instead of trying to make it right, they just told me to submit a refund request through DoorDash. For the price I paid, this was very frustrating and unprofessional. I was really looking forward to my meal, but the experience left me mad and disappointed.I hope they take more care with future orders, because this was unacceptable.

Walking into this café feels like stepping into a Parisian pâtisserie. The display cases are stunning—rows of colorful macarons, beautifully decorated tarts, and decadent cakes that make it hard to choose just one. Everything looks like it belongs in a magazine spread. We ordered a variety to try: a raspberry layered cheesecake, a rich chocolate slice, and a flaky pastry paired with coffee and a matcha latte. The flavors did not disappoint—the raspberry dessert was refreshing and tangy with just the right amount of sweetness, while the chocolate slice was dense, smooth, and indulgent. The matcha latte was creamy and earthy, a perfect balance to the sweets. The ambiance is cozy yet lively, with a modern French vibe. Staff were friendly and patient while we decided (which took a while with so many tempting choices!).⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Highly recommend if you want authentic French-style pastries, rich flavors, and a treat-yourself kind of experience. Perfect for a morning coffee, an afternoon pick-me-up, or even taking a box of desserts home to impress guests.

I really enjoyed my visit to this Amélie's Café--it's much more spacious than other locations I've been to, which made it feel airy and inviting. The space stays true to their French eclectic aesthetic, filled with whimsical, vintage-inspired artwork that adds a quirky charm. The staff at the pastry counter were friendly and helpful, which made browsing their baked goods a treat. Unfortunately, the experience at the coffee station was less warm--the woman working there wasn't as welcoming, which was a slight disappointment. We ordered a tiramisu latte, which was just okay--not bad, but not especially memorable. We also tried a half-dozen macarons, and those were hit or miss depending on the flavor. Favorites were the raspberry, café au lait, and birthday cake, while the lavender lemon, blueberry cheesecake, and lemon tasted a bit too artificial and overly sweet. One thing I did notice was that the tables weren't wiped down well, it was still kind of sticky, even though the café wasn't busy at the time. That said, the overall vibe was cozy and relaxed--a lovely place to enjoy a drink and pastries while catching up with friends.

been here 10ish times over the year, vast and best variety, intriguing decor, very loud for studying (bc busy, understandably), macarons w/ flavorful fruit puree, and the kale cranberry salad was one of the best things i've ever had.
