Introduction / Overview

In the heart of the greater Atlanta area, specifically nestled within the community of Forest Park, there exists a culinary establishment that locals frequently refer to as a "best kept secret." That place is Best Country Doughnuts, a dedicated Donut shop that has earned a loyal following for its commitment to classic, high-quality sweet treats. While chain operations dominate the fast-food breakfast landscape, Best Country Doughnuts proudly maintains the authentic charm and quality of a truly local, neighborhood gem. This spot isn't just a convenient stop; it’s a destination that inspires dedication from its patrons, with one reviewer noting the need to wake up at 5:00 AM and navigate morning traffic just to secure their delicious start to the day. This level of commitment speaks volumes about the freshness and value found here.

Unlike specialty shops that focus on expensive, overly elaborate creations, Best Country Doughnuts provides the comforting, homemade flavors that Georgia residents crave. They offer everything from classic old-fashioned cake varieties to sticky glazed doughnuts and those covered in chocolate, ensuring there is a simple, yet perfectly executed treat for every preference. Their doughnuts are baked fresh daily, a practice that contributes to their renowned taste and sometimes means they run out before the official noon closing time. The atmosphere inside is casual and welcoming, popular specifically for solo dining, making it a perfect spot for individuals needing a moment of quiet indulgence with a great cup of coffee before the demands of the day begin. This blend of authentic Southern hospitality, fresh products, and efficient service solidifies its reputation in the competitive Atlanta-area food scene.

Best Country Doughnuts is strategically located to serve the residents of Forest Park and the surrounding Clayton County and South Fulton areas. The official address is 4746 Jonesboro Rd, Forest Park, GA 30297, USA. Situated on Jonesboro Road, the shop is easily reachable for those commuting early in the morning or seeking a convenient weekend treat. The location fosters a true community feel, acting as a reliable morning cornerstone for the neighborhood.

The management of Best Country Doughnuts has clearly prioritized making the experience accessible and convenient for all patrons. The property features a Free parking lot, which is a major advantage for customers making that necessary early-morning drive. In terms of physical access, the shop is fully equipped to accommodate everyone with ease. The amenities include a Wheelchair accessible entrance, ensuring a smooth path into the shop. For drivers requiring special access, a dedicated Wheelchair accessible parking lot is available. Furthermore, the venue provides a Wheelchair accessible restroom, demonstrating a comprehensive commitment to inclusivity and comfort for all members of the Georgia community. The ease of access, combined with its popularity, confirms why this location is worth the effort—even requiring a pre-dawn wake-up, as one customer shared.

Services Offered

Best Country Doughnuts maintains a focused service model designed for speed and convenience, perfectly suiting the early hours of operation that cater to commuters, tradespeople, and early risers across Georgia. While the menu is centered on fresh donuts and coffee, the service options are simple and efficient:

  • Takeout: The most popular service option, ensuring customers can quickly grab their freshly baked doughnuts and coffee to enjoy on their commute or at home. The swift service is frequently praised, with staff moving quickly to handle lines during peak rush hours.
  • Dine-in: Customers are welcome to enjoy their breakfast or dessert on-site in the establishment's casual atmosphere. This is particularly popular for Solo dining, offering a quick, comfortable space for a morning moment.
  • Quick visit: The entire operation is structured for maximum efficiency. The swift service ensures that even when a line forms, patrons are “in and out,” minimizing the interruption to a busy morning schedule.

Features / Highlights

Best Country Doughnuts distinguishes itself in the highly competitive Atlanta-area market by focusing on consistency, quality, and a few truly outstanding signature items. The features that make this local shop a must-visit for Georgia locals include:

  • Exceptional Early Hours: Operating from 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Monday through Saturday, the shop caters directly to the early working population. This consistent schedule ensures that fresh product is available at the start of the day, with the understanding that the best items often sell out by noon.
  • The 'Amazing' Blueberry Donut: While their glazed options are good, the blueberry donut receives high praise. One satisfied customer emphatically stated, “Now that one— amazing! I ended up eating the entire donut!” This specific flavor is a major draw for repeat visits.
  • Kolaches and Other Breakfast Items: Beyond the classic doughnuts, the shop is also known for its kolaches and other breakfast items such as sandwiches (as noted in public information). The kolaches, in particular, were highlighted by a local reviewer as being "really good," offering a savory counterpoint to the sweet offerings.
  • Highly Rated Coffee: The establishment is noted for having "Great coffee." Pairing high-quality, hot coffee with a fresh donut or kolache is the perfect combination to power through a Georgia morning.
  • Swift and Friendly Service: Reviews consistently mention the speed and efficiency of the staff. Patrons appreciate that the ladies working in the front "get you in and out no matter how long the line may get," all while providing “friendly and swift service.”
  • Value and Authenticity: Customers noted getting several items for a very low price (around $5.50 or $6 for multiple donuts), positioning Best Country Doughnuts as a high-value, authentic alternative to national chains, with doughnuts that "taste better than most chains."

For Forest Park residents and visitors planning their early-morning stop, it is recommended to have the shop's information readily available, especially given the early closing time. What is Worth Choosing

For local Georgia users, choosing Best Country Doughnuts represents a return to a cherished, community-based culinary experience. It is worth choosing this spot primarily because it delivers on a promise of freshness and genuine quality that often eludes the mass-market competition. The fact that their doughnuts are made fresh daily, often leading to them running out by noon, is a testament to the high demand and quality control. One reviewer captured this dedication perfectly, noting the sight of existing patrons early in the morning and a gentleman who bought four donuts and promised to return “in a few days,” a clear indicator of a strong customer loyalty built on delicious products and friendly relationships.

The value offered here is exceptional. A small, local purchase for an authentic, fresh product beats the sometimes-stale or overly commercialized offerings elsewhere. While the glazed donut, the staple of any donut shop, was deemed "good" but perhaps not "the BEST on earth" by one discerning customer who compared it to a famous New Orleans spot, it’s the specialty flavors that truly shine. The blueberry donut is a breakout star, compelling enough to be entirely consumed by a customer who initially planned only a small taste. Additionally, the availability of savory items like the kolaches ensures that customers seeking a more substantial breakfast alongside their excellent Coffee have a high-quality option.

The entire experience is tailored for the modern, busy Georgia consumer, with quick and efficient service and convenient payment options including Credit cards, Debit cards, and NFC mobile payments. The overall atmosphere is casual and designed for a quick visit, although the quality is high enough to warrant an “Appointment required” level of planning if you want to ensure you get their most popular items before the midday close. In an era where local businesses need to stand out, Best Country Doughnuts does so by offering a consistently high-quality product, especially the highly-rated blueberry and their delicious kolaches, all wrapped up in fast, friendly service. It is a true local treasure in Forest Park, GA, and a delicious reason to beat the morning traffic.

I was searching for a spot that would prevent me from catching a flight to New Orleans for what I consider to be the BEST donuts on earth ! Just in case you are wondering - that spot is called Tastee Restaurant located in Kennar - highly suggest checking it out!Back to Best Country Donuts! My niece was visiting and said she wanted to check this spot out. I told her that we would need to get up at 5am and make the journey to the other side of town and beat the morning rush hour traffic! We did this on a Wednesday! It was about a 25 minute drive from where I live . When we arrived I was surprised that there were already patrons in the building! It is clear this place is loved! The gentleman that was checking out when we entered order 4 donuts and said “ I will see you in a few days!”! I love this for them! It’s nice to be loved by your customers!I wanted to try a regular glazed donut but also ordered a sour cream and a blueberry to try ! I think my total was about $5.50 or 6 bucks. I did get two glazed - one for a friend. My niece ordered a glazed and an apple fritter. When we got in the car to make the journey home my niece decided to try her glazed donut! She bit into it and said oh yessss, this is good !! I did not want to break my fast with sugar so I ended up waiting until I ate a proper breakfast prior to trying the ones I purchased.I tried the glazed first . I just cut off a small piece! First impression- ok - it’s good - but it’s not like the one I love in New Orleans. I then tried the blueberry donut! Now that one— amazing! I ended up eating the entire donut! The sour cream one did not do anything for me !If I was in the area wanting a sweet treat I would stop by this donut shop.

This little local donut shop is a best kept secret in the greater Atlanta area. Their plain glazed donuts and kolaches are really good. This spot came recommended by a coworker so I decided to indulge, and boy was he right. The ladies working in the front get you in and out no matter how long the line may get. They provide you with friendly and swift service. Their donuts taste better than most chains.

I would’ve taken a pic, but it’s too late - twice! 🤦🏾‍♂️Thought they were just gonna be regular, but they’re good. Blueberry cake is CRAZY good! Unexpected. Maple Glazed & Original Glazed are good and buttery!

1. The glaze on the strawberry donuts slid off??!!! No excuse if you made bad glaze that day... they could have been laid flat idc it's just bad to have wet naked donuts when they are cheaper that way.2. Inconsistent prices or display is old or something I'd. If I read 9.50 for six doughnuts then I pay $12+ I'm confused3. I ordered six doughnuts $8.50, a twist and a croissant it was $13.44 ?!! how in the hell is that math correct ? I knew the first day something wasn't right...4. The sandwiches were sitting in bags pre made and nuked if you wanted it to be warm. Yes it was a microwave because it was unevenly heated but at least I was able to eat it before the bread turned to stone. I'm not sure what audience they shoot for but it seems this is for people who will devour a whole half a dozen or take it to the office to share IMMEDIATELY, because I'm certain it's not for next day coffee cup enjoyment or end of day treat.... The donut glaze is wet.5.craziest part, I raved about the strawberry donuts to the guy Behind me who the servers decided they would talk with instead of the NEXT Customer ...ME... But whatever. I still gave a compliment and left.6. I have been coming here with my mother for years...I guess that's who would have gotten a better welcome but she died in 2016... This is not how I remembered things..The strawberry icing once upon a time had Actual 🍓 in it.... This pool of pink is just grease and sugar, I guess... Well we do know what it is anyway...but it's supposed to be crisp glaze. Donuts may as well be from Kroger deli. They were just as sticky and wet and disappointing. The service was not cheerful to me... And I went two days in a row this week. No smile was offered just stoic gimme your money for these wet donuts type of vibe.See pictures.Sad to lose another good a thing in the area. First the Mexican Bakery in Wholesale Foods Now this....
