Introduction / Overview

Five Daughters Bakery, particularly the vibrant East Nashville location, has firmly established itself as a must-visit destination for anyone in Tennessee with a sweet tooth. This family-owned and operated bakery, named after the five daughters of owners Isaac and Stephanie, operates on a philosophy of high integrity, using the freshest, high-quality ingredients with no chemical preservatives, no GMOs, no hydrogenated oils, and no artificial colors or flavors. Their commitment to handcrafted quality ensures that every treat truly is a labor of love.

The bakery is famous across the region for its unique and decadent signature item: the 100 Layer Donut. This creation is not just a treat; it’s an experience, a luxurious hybrid of a croissant and a donut that takes up to three days to craft. The result is a pillowy, flaky, melt-in-your-mouth creation that is often called Nashville's version of the cronut.

Beyond the signature 100 Layer Donut, Five Daughters Bakery caters to a variety of dietary preferences, offering a wide selection of traditional Yeast-Raised donuts (many with vegan bases) and their celebrated Paleo donuts, which are completely free of gluten, dairy, and refined sugars. The East Nashville shop is known for its cute, vibrant decor, making it an "Insta pic worthy" spot, and the friendly, patient staff ensures a delightful experience from the moment you walk in the door. It’s a place where quality, flavor, and family spirit come together to create some of the most memorable sweets in Music City.

What is Worth Choosing

When visiting the East Nashville Five Daughters Bakery, your choices should be guided by their famous specialties and the high-quality ingredients that set them apart.

The undeniable centerpiece is the 100 Layer Donut. If you are new to the bakery, begin with one of the staple 100 Layer flavors. The Vanilla Cream, which is generously dusted with powdered sugar and infused with vanilla buttercream, or the Chocolate Sea Salt, with its salted chocolate buttercream and glaze, are excellent choices that showcase the delicate, flaky texture.

For the ultimate indulgence, the King Kong 100 Layer Donut is highly recommended. The blend of sweet maple glaze and savory candied bacon is a favorite that perfectly demonstrates the "sweet and savory" perfection customers rave about.

For those seeking a healthier option without compromising flavor, the Paleo selection is a revelation. While flavors rotate, the Dark Choc. Pistachio or Orange Honey Pistachio showcase how delicious a gluten-free, dairy-free, and refined sugar-free treat can be. Similarly, the Yeast Raised Purist is a great choice for vegans, offering a classic, light, and fluffy glazed donut.

To complete the experience, pair your pastry with a beverage from their full espresso menu. A classic Latte or one of their popular specialty drinks, like a Vanilla Latte or Mocha, offers the perfect complementary warmth to the rich, decadent flavors of their celebrated donuts.

Such a cool and fun place! I had never been before but when I saw bacon on a donut I knew I had to try it out. I can't remember who helped me but he was very polite and patient while I took time to decide. The donuts were melt in your mouth soft with the perfect blend of sweet and savory. They also had a nice area outside with tables to sit and enjoy your donuts. I can't wait to try more!

Absolutely incredible donuts! We visited 5 Daughters Bakery in Nashville and were blown away. The classic glazed was perfectly light, fluffy, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The peanut butter cup flavor was rich, indulgent, and soooo yummy without feeling too heavy. Every bite was pure bliss. You can really taste the quality and care that goes into their creations. This place is a must-visit for any donut lover—definitely a 5-star experience!

Very nice bakery focused on doughnuts and a few other sweets including some big cookies. Really enjoyed the sweet rolls. However the underrated star here is the breakfast sandwich. Egg and cheese or bacon egg and cheese it's proper delicious just the right size and appropriately priced. It's really one of my favorite grab and go options in East. The only downside is it's going to take about 10 minutes to be done vs a place like slowhand or fat belly which have them pre done. If you can spare that time though give it a try.

Best donuts! Not just in Nashville, better than many other donuts places I’ve tried across the US. I personally like plain donuts the best so I would recommend their plain pure donut, the lemon Burberry one was really good too.
