I'm disappointed because I popped into this bakery on a Sunday at 12:40 and they did not have 2 of the 3 items I specifically came here for. In fact, they didn't have much at all. They did however have the mango mochi rice cake for $3 and it was GLORIOUSLY DELICIOUS. So big and soft and almost just melts in your mouth, with juicy piece of mango inside. It's so worth it. Do yourself a favor and get more than 1 at a time. I would have really liked to try their peanut mochi, but they didn't have any when I went.

The bakery's reputation is built on a foundation of quality and a commitment to flavor that has stood the test of time. As soon as you step inside, the warm and comforting aroma of freshly baked pastries and sweet treats immediately transports you to a world of classic Chinese flavors.
While a visit to Golden Manna can sometimes be a test of luck due to its popularity and the high demand for certain items, the reward for those who find their desired treat is well worth the effort. One of the most talked-about and highly sought-after items is their mango mochi rice cake. This isn't just any mochi; it's a generously sized, soft, and "jiggly" delicacy that encases a perfectly juicy piece of fresh mango. The contrast of the chewy, delicate mochi exterior with the bright, slightly sour burst of the mango inside creates a truly memorable flavor experience. Patrons rave about its melt-in-your-mouth quality, often advising others to buy more than one piece at a time to fully appreciate its glorious deliciousness. The mango mochi's popularity is a testament to the bakery's ability to create simple yet unforgettable desserts that leave a lasting impression.
Beyond the viral mango mochi, Golden Manna is also celebrated for its mastery of other traditional items, such as the classic egg tart. Often described by locals as one of the best in NYC's Chinatown, the egg tart here is praised for its flaky crust and smooth, perfectly balanced custard. The bakery's dedication to these time-honored recipes is what makes it a cornerstone of the neighborhood's culinary scene. It’s a place where you can find familiar comforts and discover new favorites, all while experiencing the authentic taste of a time-honored tradition. For locals, this bakery represents a piece of the neighborhood's history and an essential stop for anyone craving a taste of home or a delicious introduction to Chinese baked goods.
The accessibility of Golden Manna Bakery is one of its most appealing features. Located at 16 Bowery, it is situated in a bustling and easily navigable part of Chinatown. The bakery is just a short walk from several major subway stations, making it convenient for New Yorkers from all over the city. The F train to East Broadway is a particularly close option, providing a direct link to the area. Additionally, numerous bus lines, including the M103, M15, and M22, serve the vicinity, ensuring that getting to this beloved bakery is a simple and stress-free journey. Its location on Bowery places it at the heart of the action, surrounded by other shops and restaurants, making it an ideal stop during a day of exploring the neighborhood.
The bakery’s operational hours are also designed to accommodate a wide range of schedules. While hours may vary, it typically opens early in the morning and remains open throughout the day, providing an excellent option for a morning pastry with coffee or a late-afternoon snack. It’s important to note, as some customers have discovered, that popular items can sell out, particularly on weekends. Therefore, for those with a specific craving, an earlier visit might be the best strategy to ensure they get their hands on their desired treats. The consistent foot traffic and the occasional long line are a testament to the bakery's popularity and the quality of its offerings, proving that for many locals, a visit to Golden Manna is a routine part of their week.

I tried their viral mango mochi ($3) and it was worth the hype. It was soft and jiggly but it could’ve been sweeter. I felt it was just more sour because of the mangoes. I still highly recommend this place if you want an affordable quick snack or dessert.
Jun 2 · Hamza ElsayedI got the mango mochi and it was delicious! Very fresh, soft, and delicate.I will say, the whole ordering/waiting process was chaotic and confusing. Multiple customers behind me got to order before me and I was just kind of ignored? I don't see the purpose of standing in line if there's no order.
Jul 20 · VeronikaTheir mango mochi transported me right back to my childhood days in Hong Kong, and tasted exactly like how I remember it.Their mango mochi was $3 each, slightly more expensive than the one from Tai Pan ($2.75), but definitely offered better value—they used real mango chunks for the filling, and even the mochi dough was mango-flavored. You could tell how rich it was in mango flavor just by its vibrant orange color. The mango itself was incredibly sweet, even though mangoes weren't quite in season yet. They sold out of mango mochi when I came in late afternoon, but I revisited at noon on the other day and finally got it. Absolutely obsessed!

Great job and great food!!! My mom loves traditional cake and you guys nailed it!!Fantastic bakery!!! To start off, fresh fresh fresh. I love fresh. I also LOVE Red bean buns. They had a good selection and their egg tarts were delicious. Flaky crust. Dairy free!!! My friend had the cheese cake and angel cake. He said they were delicious as well. Bought some for my mom and can’t wait to see her reaction. Our family loves sweet tasty bread. Thank you for the service and delicious pastry. Will be my stop everytime I’m nearby.
