I'm done. I will never walk into this place again. When previously owned I would go at least 4 times a week. Then the place was sold, cleaned up and Apple Pay set up. So the new owner started giving cash discount. Charging higher price if you used credit card.Anytime I went into the bagel place I was always rushing to the train station. Today I had plenty of extra time. I had no cash and thought oh well let me use my phone to pay. Because I was paying in cash all the other times, the guy told me the cash price $8.90. Then he realize I was using Apple Pay. Said one minute..... pushed the machine towards my phone and i was charged $13.21. I only realized because i had time to check my phone. Now I wonder how many other times they stole money from me. Really shady. I asked how can it go so much higher. He said credit card fee. The owner was there and gave me the difference back in cash $4.00 Which is even more shady. Obviously he doesn't report his cash intake to the IRS. The deli to the left of this shop has just as nice bagels. Enough is enough. Any business charging you cc fee don't go. Especially don't go to life's a bagel.

This kosher (under supervision of the South Shore Vaad) bagel place has a nice assortment of regular bagels, mini bagels and flat bagels with cream and other types of spreads. They don't have any egg items or other breakfast items - just bagels with spreads. The bagels are very good. There are some tables to eat there but it mostly is take out. They are a few blocks from the beach so sitting on a bench and having your bagel there is a great item.
Sep 4 · Robert FederGreat spot for a quick bite - they don’t make cooked foods (pancakes, eggs, etc) and I really like that! They do bagels and some baked goods and they are great at it! Friendly, fast staff and food was all delicious! Mini bagel for my daughter and full sized for me. Fruit cup for the wife and muffin for all of us to share. Bottled drinks are expensive but iced coffee was priced ok. Tasted ok too. The bagels are the bees knees! Great!
Aug 3 · Ari BI'm on bagel death row. This is my last before I head out of bagel country for pretty much ever. So, the last needed to measure up. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't ess a bagel, Tompkins square or Williamsburg bagel. Guess that was inevitable. The bagel itself gets 2.5/5. The chew was ok, not great. The crust not there, as you can see, and the sprinkles were good, but I need some caraway or fennel to seal the deal. Half had the minimal acceptable amount of schmear, half so little it was a desert. The lox cream cheese is charitably described as mild. Terrific service, but these are normal priced bagels and need the customary new york care and quality.
May 10 · Kitchen InsiderThe bagels were okay, but the cream cheese spread was watery to the point it dripped from the bagels as we ate them. A bit of a disappointment as we really looked forward to trying this place on a recommendation from a friend.
