This cafe is more like a deli… prepackaged sandwiches and other food. The food was ok, but the sandwiches were rather dry. The glass bottled root beer and ginger cookies were good.

Colonial Williamsburg tradition - brick oven ginger cake cookies and a glass bottle root beer. Great seating area / picnic tables in the back and side. The actual oven and bakery is in the back of the front building in the street.
May 20 · Nathan VeyThe Raleigh Tavern Bakery is more of a food court than an actual bakery. The cookies are tasty but are prepackaged rather than fresh baked. They also have be beverages and coffee for sale. The building is colonial in appearance and is a replica of an actual building that would have been on the site. The staff are friendly and it’s fun.
Dec 23 · Louis and ElaineThe fresh gingerbread cost is 3 for $4! It was delicious and hot with just a touch of crust on it. Oh to die for! The well dressed baker was kind and virtuous. Because it was Christmas time you can get a “fat man” ginger bread man cake which is also delicious. A ten percent discount is added for patriot pass or military. They offered breads and other cookies but we left with a huge bag of gingerbread!
Dec 8 · torie quismundoMake sure to stop here in the morning around 10am to get some fresh ginger cakes. A traditional recipient made the “old way” in a wood-fire oven. When the cakes are warm they fill you up with joy. Limit 6 per person but also under $2 each. Such a great treat to start out your historical day!
