Introduction / Overview

For decades, Great Harvest Bread Co. has been a cornerstone of the Linden Hills neighborhood in Minneapolis, establishing itself as more than just a bakery—it's a community destination for real, wholesome food. This local establishment, located on Upton Avenue South, prides itself on using a traditional approach: grinding premium Montana wheat into 100% whole grain flour *fresh daily, right on site*. This dedication to milling their own flour is the core distinction, ensuring every loaf, pastry, and sandwich is packed with superior flavor and nutritional value that you simply can't find in mass-produced bread.

The business successfully operates as a dual concept: a traditional Bakery renowned for its phenomenal breads and sweets, and a casual Sandwich shop offering robust, made-to-order meals. Minnesota locals rely on Great Harvest for their daily Honey Whole Wheat loaf, as well as specialty items like their massive, delectable cinnamon rolls, which, as one loyal customer noted, are absolutely beloved. Patrons can step in for a quick Breakfast, a satisfying Takeout lunch, or simply to grab a fresh-baked treat and a cup of Coffee, always knowing the product is made from scratch with pure, simple ingredients and never any artificial preservatives.

The team at the Linden Hills location, owned by longtime residents, fosters a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, which regulars have praised for years. Whether you're seeking a hearty sandwich like the Southwestern Spicy Turkey Bacon Club, a bountiful box lunch for a meeting, or a fresh-baked Snickerdoodle Cookie, this local gem is committed to baking a difference in the Southwest Minneapolis food scene.

I have bought pastries and bread from this little bakery in Linden Hills for years. The bakery is amazing and the staff is wonderful and helpful. On the day of this review they didn’t have the sour dough bread I was hoping for. But I respect that they make it on certain days to ensure freshness. My friend came along with me and loved the cinnamon roll!!
