About and visit notes
Introduction / Overview
Top Pot Doughnuts is a name instantly recognizable to residents across Washington, a staple of the Puget Sound region's coffee and bakery scene since its founding in 2002. Far removed from the fast-food aesthetic, Top Pot has built its reputation on a commitment to quality, crafting over forty varieties of “hand-forged” doughnuts daily using a secret 1920s recipe. This dedication to elevated, scratch-made baked goods, combined with a focus on a gorgeous, vintage-inspired environment, has established Top Pot not merely as a donut shop, but as a beloved community oasis.
The company has grown significantly from its single storefront on Capitol Hill, expanding into multiple locations across Western Washington, and its influence is substantial—its recipes are even used by major retailers. Despite this growth, the core ideal remains simple: provide an exceptional experience centered on quality, inclusiveness, and integrity. This philosophy shines through at their welcoming location in the heart of West Seattle.
Top Pot's distinction lies in its diverse offerings, covering every major donut style: raised rings, classic cake doughnuts, and its signature Old Fashioned varieties. The menu also features extra special items like the beloved Apple Fritter and Glazed Twist. Complementing the treats is an equally serious coffee program. Top Pot hand-roasts its own beans in small batches, offering various blends like the Diplomat and El Presidente, ensuring that the coffee is as much of a draw as the doughnuts themselves. From a quick morning pick-me-up to a leisurely afternoon dessert, the West Seattle Top Pot location provides a perfect blend of nostalgia and gourmet quality that appeals to locals and visitors alike.

This place was the overall winner in our side by side taste test with Voodoo Doughnuts. Top Pot has a good selection, fresh and very tasty, very friendly staff, good amount of seating. My only regret is that I didn't try the Ovaltine Latte. Stop by and enjoy!
Jul 4 · L JDelicious, friendly, and great atmosphere! What a wonderful business to go into this central location in West Seattle. Love seeing Julia behind the counter—what a lovely human to be doling out coffee, donuts 🍩 and community!
Aug 10 · Whitney MooreI deducted a couple stars just for the fact that their sale system makes you tip before you can total out, never shows the total and I was not offered a receipt. Tipping for putting a donut in a bag?The service industry just got a raise and I'm expected to tip just for you doing your job. Now if I asked you to make a coffee or something custom then I have a choice to tip, but the system gives only tip options in order to close out the sale. I just think it's tacky.
Aug 20 · RJ JamesAmazing donut shop. Tried the cookies and creme, delicious all around. The dough is soft and the oreo toppings were very tasty. Recommended if in the West Seattle area. Would come back.
