Balboa Island Baking Company Introduce
Introduction / Overview
Balboa Island Baking Company is a quintessential Newport Beach treasure, a destination whose reputation is carried on the "aromatic smell of the baked goods" that wafts enticingly down Marine Avenue. This cozy, charming bakery is not merely a place for a quick sweet treat; it is a long-standing, family-owned institution with a rich history, known for bringing the community together through the simple magic of scratch-made pastries. The bakery proudly traces its legacy back over four decades, now thriving under new family stewardship that cherishes the old traditions while embracing modern customer needs.
The undisputed star of the show is the signature Cinnamon Roll, a recipe perfected over 40 years of dedicated baking. Customers who have experienced this treat—often caught by the irresistible aroma and drawn to the counter—describe the rolls as "pillowy soft, warm, and delicious," offering a perfect balance of gooey texture, strong cinnamon flavor, and generous, sweet icing. With over 15,000 of these decadent rolls sold in a single year, their status as a "local legend" and a potential contender for the "World's Best Cinnamon Rolls" is well-deserved.
Beyond the iconic rolls, the bakery’s dedication to quality is evident across its entire menu. Each day, fresh muffins, scones, and various cookies are baked from scratch. Furthermore, recognizing the diverse needs of the California community, Balboa Island Baking Company actively offers a variety of healthier items, including highly sought-after gluten-free and vegan options. This blend of classic baking tradition, high product quality, and community-focused catering makes it a true haven for anyone with a sweet tooth visiting Orange County.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We grabbed a cinnamon roll straight from the oven at Balboa Island Baking Company, and it was everything you’d hope for, pillowy soft, warm, and delicious. The icing leans on the sweeter side, but it totally hits the spot if you’ve got a sweet tooth. Cozy little bakery worth stopping by!
August 01 · Tony ChenBalboa, what a quaint beach area. Home to many famous people such as: John Wayne, Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, Shirley Temple, Errol Flynn, Nicolas Cage, George Burns, Gracie Allen, Roy Rogers, Peter Falk, Vanna White, and Charles Bronson. As we meandered on Balboa island we came upon this little bakery and the aroma drew us inside. The aromatic smell of the baked goods was favorably overwhelming. as we perused the glass case with all the delectable delights our eyes focused on the cinnamon rolls. we purchased 2. we were then asked if we wanted icing on top, of course. A generous amount was applied to the tops of both. I noticed the owner was creating something new and asked to video her, she agreed and said she was making a new batch of lemon scones. oh my goodness. see the video attached.Enjoy these delectable delights, I know we did.
