Chapala Bakery #2 Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For California residents in the greater Los Angeles area, particularly those in Pasadena, Chapala Bakery #2 stands as a vibrant and essential destination for authentic Mexican baked goods. Far from a generic bakery, this establishment is a dedicated panadería and a local cultural anchor, specializing in traditional treats that are made fresh daily. Located on East Orange Grove Boulevard, the bakery is renowned for its colorful and extensive array of pan dulce—Mexican sweet breads—a culinary staple beloved by the community. Items like conchas and rosca are crafted using time-honored recipes, ensuring a genuinely traditional flavor profile that is often superior to mass-produced alternatives found in supermarkets.
The appeal of Chapala Bakery #2 is multi-layered. While the sweet breads are a major draw, the shop also provides a range of savory items, most notably traditional tamales and tortas, making it a versatile stop for a complete meal or quick snack. Customers consistently praise the quality, noting that the bread and pastries are delicious, fresh, and of decent quality, despite the occasional observation that the selection may not be as vast as some larger panaderías. The focus here is clearly on quality and tradition, creating products that resonate deeply with those seeking authentic flavors. The shop has also adapted to modern consumer needs, offering coffee and accepting multiple payment methods, ensuring a convenient experience for the busy California user seeking a quick visit or takeout option. This dedication to authentic product quality, combined with an understanding of modern efficiency, makes Chapala Bakery #2 a highly valued resource in the Pasadena neighborhood.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Been to Chapala bakery #2 in Pasadena and have always had great experiences. Last night not so much I went and a young man didn’t even bother to greet us when walking in. Smelled like straight marijuana and didn’t seem to know what he was doing! Overall the bread is amazing and tamales are always great. Just lack of attention and good service.
August 13 · Will GarciaI came here for the pan dulce. I thought it was a fair price for the bag and it tasted fresh and decent quality. I’m not sure how much each piece costs, next time I’ll ask. If you want cheaper bread it will not be as tasty. Street Parking is a little tight to get here, I wish it was a little easier. Also, their selection of pan dulce was less than I anticipated for a panaderia, perhaps they have low demand, but they have sufficient selection you have a pan dulce craving. I did think the conchas were superior to supermarket conchas. They are cash only, or Zelle, which I am not a huge fan of, but I can live with it, they are a small business, I think. They have a mural of La Virgen with flowers (offerings?) outside their store if you’re into that. Service was basic, I wasn’t greeted but didn’t expect to be. I will probably come again, for pan dulce.
April 09 · Yasmin NuernbergerOrdered tres leches cake for party. My, oh my, oh my … absolutely delicious, beautifully decorated, and so reasonably priced!! best I’ve ever had. No wait. Ready when promised. Thank you so much.
May 06 · Phil RellerThis might have to be my new favorite place! Walked in to get some pan dulce and the young girl recommended we tried a rosca! She was packing them fresh it did not disappoint. Will definitely have to be back for more. Great service and friendly staff so welcoming.
January 04 · Daisy ArellanoFood is delicious. A bit pricey but then again, what isn't nowadays?!🙄 The one complaint that I do have of this particular business is the tamales are tasty but they are quite stingy with the guisado. If you're going to be charging over $3 for a single tamal, it better be a well rounded tamal!😏 BTW, don't you hate how the majority of Mexican bakeries don't have the prices posted?!!!🙄
