La Paloma Bakery y más Introduce
For Texans in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, particularly those in Garland and surrounding communities, La Paloma Bakery y más represents the quintessential neighborhood panadería. This establishment is not just a place to buy bread; it is a beloved local institution where fresh, authentic Mexican baked goods and savory comfort foods are made with care and dedication. The "y más" (and more) in its name is a promise it delivers on, providing a full experience that caters to morning commuters, families, and anyone craving a genuine taste of Mexican baking.
At its core, La Paloma Bakery y más is celebrated for its Pan Dulce (sweet bread). Customers rave about the classic conchas, the comforting aroma of warm bread, and the consistently delicious quality. The bakery's offerings extend beyond the standard favorites, introducing exciting options like the now-famous Stuffed Concha, a modern twist on a traditional pastry that has quickly become a highlight for local patrons. This constant innovation, while maintaining the high standards of traditional baking, is what keeps customers returning "for years," noting that the experience "keeps getting better and better."
What truly sets this bakery apart in the competitive DFW food scene is its extensive and convenient savory menu. It successfully marries the roles of a bakery, a breakfast spot, and a tamale specialist. While many places reserve tamales for the weekend, La Paloma offers delicious chicken and pork tamales seven days a week, a significant convenience for any Texan with a sudden tamale craving. This focus on both the sweet and the savory makes the bakery an obvious choice over less specialized alternatives, such as typical donut shops, as one review aptly notes, "why the hell would you ever go to a donut store when this place is right here?"
The atmosphere is described as inviting, with friendly and helpful staff that contribute to the overall positive customer experience. La Paloma Bakery y más is more than a quick stop; it's a vibrant piece of the Garland community, offering a warm welcome, great service, and a diverse selection of fresh, high-quality, and authentic products.

What is Worth Choosing
For any Texan seeking an authentic, satisfying, and consistently excellent bakery experience in the Garland area, La Paloma Bakery y más is truly worth choosing for several compelling reasons. The value here lies in the intersection of traditional baking, savory convenience, and community spirit.
The primary choice should always be the Pan Dulce, especially the classic Conchas and their unique Stuffed Concha innovation. This is the foundation of their reputation, and for good reason—the bread is fresh, warm, and holds authentic flavor that is hard to replicate elsewhere. Starting your day with a sweet concha and a cup of coffee from La Paloma provides a far richer and more comforting experience than a generic pastry from a chain.
Secondly, choosing the Tamales is a must, particularly the pork tamales for their highly recommended "extra flavor." The ability to procure high-quality, authentic tamales any day of the week is a substantial benefit to local families and a staple for any gathering. Just remember the warning about the delicious, but powerful, green salsa: it's worth the kick, but handle with care.
Finally, by choosing La Paloma Bakery y más, you are supporting a local business that genuinely invests in its community by offering superior, freshly made products that outperform their chain competitors. The friendly service from staff ensures every visit feels like a return home, making this bakery a cherished gem in the 75043 area of Garland.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I've been coming here for years and it keeps getting better and better.. if you guys haven't stopped by and got some pan what are you waiting for!? Their new stuffed concha is delicious!! Olga & Maleni are stupendously great & super helpful 😊.
May 02 · jose moreno (Chino)This place is next door to a donut store and I always think "why the hell would you ever go to a donut store when this place is right here?"They even have breakfast burritos 🌯 which will beat whatever you can get at a donut store 10 times out of 10. One other unique thing about this panaderia is that they serve chicken and pork tamales 7 days a week. Most places only serve them on weekends!I didn't get tamales today but I've tried them and I say get the pork ones for extra flavor. The side green salsa is spicy so watch out. They switch out the types of bread they sell daily, but the more sturdy "cookie" types, breads, and classic warm Conchas are guaranteed daily. The more elusive stuff to find will be the empanadas, because we live in Texas and empanadas spoil in heat and humidity so the bakeries have to be careful when deciding to bake them.I was blessed to find the pumpkin empanadas today, even if this October has been an unusually hot one. They’ve recently added tres leches cakes to the fridge and I'm addicted.
October 27 · Angela FlipsBeen buy tamales from here the past year but this past Sunday was very disappointing, tamales didn’t have much meat in them and a lot of masa. Who wants to eat Masa!! Do better people.
August 04 · Leticia YoungI wanted to give this place a second chance, my bad. Bread is stale and the woman at the front claims it's fresh. Not only did she pile all the bread into one bag, empanadas and bread pudding should never be put on the bottom. I let that slide. Then I get home and the empanadas that are supposed to have fruit filling, are dry as her skin and just as disgusting. Never again. Just stick to the real panaderias, like the Guatemalteca on First Street. This one is really bad. The tamales here are very dry and never consistent in flavor or seasoning. The conchas are good for a couple hours. These people here are cutting corners and losing customers in the process.
December 13 · A RicoThis Mexican bakery sells tamales everyday and they are delicious
