Operating from their home base in Arlington, this family-run bakery has been making delicious, homestyle fried pies since 1974. The business has transcended its local roots to become a widely recognized name, with their signature crescent-shaped desserts distributed throughout the Southwest and beyond. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1II bought a coconut fried pie a couple of days ago and it not edible. The crust was very dry and the filling was even worse. There was nothing creamy about it. There’s no date of expiration to know when it was best buy or expired. I love the chocolate and coconut fried pies but this was highly disappointing.
August 26 · Tabetha NealOmg I was paying for my groceries at a store called Winco here in Fresno, California, and at the register I saw these pies so I grabbed two a peach and a banana and when I say I wish I had five dozen I mean it these were delicious. Never tried any pie like this in my life Coming from a little package. Please send me every flavor
September 17 · Monica TrevinoThis review is about a grocery-store-bought pie, not a pie from the Mindy Lu's bakery. My wife purchased a Mindy Lu's cherry pie for me at Winco. I'm a huge fan of handheld pies, and she didn't recognize the brand and wanted to surprise me with something new (she's such a nice person!).The pie did not meet my expectations. The mouth-feel was greasy and the taste was very bland; definitely not sweet. The crust would probably be good for a hot meat-pie. I say that because it reminded me of the animal-fat mouth-feel that a tamale's masa has. Great for a hot tamale - not so much for a cold fruit pie.Hoping to salvage something from the experience of taking a bite of the pie, I tried the fruit filling on its own.The filling's texture was gummy as opposed to gooey, and was almost flavorless. It could be that my taste buds were coated with cold grease and couldn't decern 'sweet'. Or, maybe it's because it's a low-sugar pie that isn't marketed with 'obvious' 'low sugar' markings on the packaging.Either way, it too was disappointing.Edit for location: the pie was purchased at the Springfiel, Oregon Winco.
September 23 · B BI just bought your coconut cream pie at Jimmy's Italian Grocer in East Dallas & OMG was that a dream! I will be ordering online when as you say the weather cools down BUT I also hope to continue finding your pies at Jimmy's.I am a fried pie fanatic BUT finding one that is truly great is next to impossible. Love! Thank You!
August 28 · Rawlins GillilandMindy Lu’s has become too comfortable with supplying convenient stores with old pies. Instead of a bible verse, can you please put the expiration date. The first pineapple pie was dried out and “date” brown. I returned it for a moist “date brown “ pineapple pie. Never again.
