Mr. Nelson's Cookies®️ Introduce
For residents and visitors in Arizona’s picturesque Southeast Valley, particularly near the Superstition Mountains, the name Mr. Nelson's Cookies® represents a highly unique, specialized culinary experience. Located in Gold Canyon, this establishment is not a conventional, multi-item bakery, but rather a dedicated, artisan cookie shop with a singular focus: creating what it claims to be the "World's Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie."
Founded and operated by Mr. Nelson, a formally-trained chef (Le Cordon Bleu trained) and artisan baker, the entire operation is a testament to dedication and limited-run quality. This is an operation built on the principle of perfection over volume. Mr. Nelson has spent decades developing his proprietary recipe, which is the sole focus of his baking. He makes, bakes, and wraps every single cookie himself, operating as a dedicated, one-man show.
This business model results in extreme exclusivity: Mr. Nelson only bakes 24 dozen (288) perfect chocolate chip cookies a day, four days a week, and they consistently sell out. This strict daily limit is self-imposed to maintain unwavering quality control, ensuring that every quarter-pound cookie meets his meticulous standards. The focus is placed on gourmet ingredients, including a proprietary blend of Tahitian vanilla and often multiple types of high-end chocolate (such as Ghirardelli).
The narrative surrounding Mr. Nelson's Cookies® is one of luxury, artistry, and a truly personal touch. Customers often share stories of receiving exceptional customer service, being greeted personally by Mr. Nelson, and appreciating the time and care taken in packaging, which typically involves a personal signature and handwritten note. This high-end, artisan approach elevates the simple chocolate chip cookie into a premium gift or a deliberate, savory indulgence for local Arizona customers who value quality and a unique backstory. The experience, as one customer noted, involves meeting the owner and hearing his stories, creating a memorable connection that goes beyond a typical retail transaction.
However, it is important for local users to note the specialized nature and premium pricing structure. The high price point is directly tied to the artisan process, the luxury ingredients, and the limited quantity. While many customers rave about the cookies being the "best," others express that the high expectations set by the promotional language and price are not always met, citing issues with the texture and ingredients like margarine/palm oil, as opposed to butter, and questioning the quantity of the high-end chocolate used. Prospective customers should approach the purchase recognizing it is for an artisan, specialty item with a specific texture and flavor profile, and not a conventional, mass-produced cookie.
Despite the occasional dissenting opinion, the fact remains that for many across Arizona and the country, Mr. Nelson's Cookies® offers a highly sought-after, luxury dessert that is deeply rooted in the Gold Canyon community and shipped across the continental United States. The availability at the Gilbert Farmer's Market offers local users a distinct opportunity to purchase these fresh cookies without relying on shipping.
This specialty shop is more than a cookie provider; it’s a commitment to a singular vision of chocolate chip cookie perfection, hand-crafted daily at the base of the beautiful Superstition Mountains.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I experienced the Best Customer Service EVER when I had the opportunity to meet the owner of Mr. Nelson’s Cookies!First, you should know Mr. Nelson only bakes 24 dozen perfect cookies a day-four days a week and he always sells out! He also spent years creating the world famous best Chocolate Chip Cookie! He has one flavor because why mess with perfection?!?I woke up thinking about these cookies because of a great conversation I had with his wife the night before. So I got in my car and drove to the bakery to taste the perfect cookie.Mr. Nelson was so kind to wrap up some fresh baked cookies for me and greeted me with a smile and a few stories at the door. I brought one home for each of my family members and the great reviews are in!Thank you Mr. Nelson! You can find him online and ship anywhere in the continental US or swing by his spot Saturday Mornings at the Gilbert Farmer’s Market.
March 02 · Embrace The GlowI legitimately feel scammed. These cookies are $5 each and the website goes on and on about how they're the literal perfect chocolate chip cookie, hand-made with gourmet ingredients by a professional chef, and gift-wrapped with a personal signature! Then, when you get them, you find that they're on the level of an above average gas station cookie. They don't even have butter in them, its margarine palm-oil crap with preservatives.Low quality, an unpleasant crumbly-almost-powdery texture, not recommended at all, and an EGREGIOUS price. Also, Ghirardelli chocolate is advertised in them as a selling point, and yet it is listed as the second to last ingredient, meaning there's only a pinch of it. Almost as if its the smallest and cheapest amount you could put in the cookie and still advertise it as having Ghirardelli chocolate.
April 04 · Mason WickershamMr. Nelson is a very nice man — however, the cookies are NOT good — let alone “The World’s Perfect Chocolate-Chip Cooke.”Nestle’s Toll-House-Cookies made with BUTTER are without debate…much BETTER than Mr. Nelson’s Cookies. The cookies are $5.00 a piece…you’d be more satisfied buying a package of “Chips-Ahoy” cookies — they taste better even thought they’re NOTHING like the Nestle’s Toll-House” all things considered. I wish Mr. Nelson well (no animosity) just needed to type up my experience from the Scottsdale Art walk — do yourselves a favor and save your $5.00 dollars — you can THANK me later!
February 24 · SteveBought two cookies at the tempe art festival. They are wildly overpriced to start with, so you’re expecting something at least okay. They aren’t. They are shockingly bad. How a person could think they are good is beyond me. Maybe it was just the batch that day but the cookie was entirely raw in the middle. After baking the already baked cookie again in my oven it is still raw and still terrible. I’m not convinced it wasn’t made of play-doh.
December 05 · Paul WoodMr.Nelsons Cookies are the best chocolate chip cookies! Such a nice man and great costumer service. Make sure to follow the directions on the card and they really do taste like they came right out of the oven! Get them every time I’ve gone to the Gilbert Farmers Market! Highly recommend 😊
