Turtle Bread Introduce
For residents of Minnesota, particularly those in the Twin Cities area, Turtle Bread is far more than a place to buy a loaf—it is a cherished neighborhood institution and a cornerstone of the community. Located in the heart of Minneapolis, this establishment seamlessly blends the art of an artisan bakery with the comfort and hospitality of a beloved breakfast and lunch spot. Since its inception in 1994, Turtle Bread Company has built a reputation for its commitment to scratch-made dishes, exceptional French-style pastries, and, most importantly, extraordinary breads.
The name "Turtle Bread" itself is said to be a nod to the fact that great bread takes time, a philosophy evident in the quality of every item they produce. Their bakery case features a delightful selection of breads—from classic baguettes and Country Sourdough to their unique and highly praised Chocolate Loaf. Beyond the baked goods, the venue operates as a full-fledged breakfast and lunch destination, offering hearty favorites and quick bites that keep locals coming back week after week. As one long-time customer puts it, it’s a “true neighborhood establishment” where you genuinely feel “part of the community.”
Turtle Bread’s menu spans from light options like their daily quiche and fresh Green Salad to substantial meals such as the highly recommended Turtle Benedict and Salmon Scramble. While the Longfellow location focuses heavily on breakfast and café fare, the menu hints at a deeper culinary background with offerings that suggest a blend of classic American brunch and Italian influences, featuring pasta and ravioli selections like Orchetti and Squash Ravioli, along with dinner-style entrées like Short Rib and Chicken. This diverse offering ensures that whether you're craving a quick coffee and pastry or a leisurely weekend brunch, Turtle Bread has you covered.

Choosing Turtle Bread is a choice for authentic, scratch-made food and genuine community connection in Minneapolis. What is truly worth choosing here is the comprehensive experience—it is a rare spot that excels equally as an artisan bakery and a full-service breakfast/brunch restaurant.
You should choose Turtle Bread for the sheer quality of the baked goods. The dedication to proper crusts, soft centers, and made-from-scratch pastries ensures that every bite of bread, every cinnamon roll, and every pie is a step above standard fare. Customers continually praise the pastries for being “just sweet enough without being gooey” and the bread for being exceptional.
Beyond the bakery, the breakfast and brunch are a must-try. Opting for a hearty item like the “Turtle Benedict” or a classic scramble guarantees a meal made with care, complemented by their "wonderful" crispy potatoes. The value proposition is strong, too—whether it’s the well-priced $6.00 quiche for a light bite or the excellent price difference for a large bowl of their daily soup.
Ultimately, the most compelling reason to choose Turtle Bread is the distinct, welcoming neighborhood atmosphere. It is a place where every resident of Minnesota, regardless of background, is welcomed, and the simple act of stopping by for coffee and a treat makes you feel like an integral part of the Longfellow community. For a comforting, high-quality, and community-focused dining experience in Minneapolis, Turtle Bread is the obvious choice.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Turtle Bread is a true neighborhood establishment. I love to come after neighborhood events, and I really feel like I’m part of the community when I stop by.The coffee is great, and every dish I’ve tried has been excellent. Their crispy potatoes are wonderful. I love that they have counter service and plenty of seating. Such a great brunch spot!
June 01 · Shannon MahedyNice little breakfast, lunch spot...Good coffee...Easy parking on the street.Clean and quiet.Comfortable seating.Good food and desserts.Recommend a $6. quiche if you're not too hungry or regular breakfast $12 to $13, I usually get the turtle benedict or the salmon scramble. If you get the soup-go for a bowl $7.49 over a cup $6.49… only $1 more…a lot bigger.
June 24 · Mark BradySo delicious and made from scratch. My Denver Omelette was AMAZING. Never knew a place like this existed. Everyone is friendly and happy. Orders are completed quickly and brought directly to your table. Employees work hard to take care of everyone and everything. The breads and pastries look amazing. I can’t even count the number of raisins in the cinnamon raisin roll. The icing was yummy. So glad everyone recycles and the guests are actually cleaning up after themselves. Highly recommend for breakfast in Minneapolis
November 19 · Lisa CarmichaelI'm not sure how long they've been here, probably a hot minute but i live the return of the neighborhood bakery. Burn in hell dr. Adkins.
May 12 · JeremyA little of a disappointment compared to the other Turtle Bread on Chicago.Pancakes were not as tasty. Bland. The pancakes at the Chicago locations were amazing. These were disappointing.Latte had no flavor.$1 extra for syrup$1 for alternative milkChocolate Chip Cookie not worth $2.75. Just a normal cookie maybe worth a dollar. The venue itself was good. I liked the location and service was good. Just disappointed on the food and coffee
