5 de Mayo Mexican Bakery Introduce
### Introduction / Overview
For those in the Florida region seeking an authentic taste of Mexican culinary tradition, the **5 de Mayo Mexican Bakery** in Clearwater offers a truly immersive and delightful experience. More than just a simple bakery, this establishment operates as a full-service **Bakery, Cake shop, and Mexican goods store**, bringing the rich, vibrant flavors of a traditional Mexican panadería right to Pinellas County.
The core appeal of 5 de Mayo Mexican Bakery lies in its commitment to authenticity, particularly with its spectacular array of pan dulce, or sweet breads. Customers rave that a visit here is a nostalgic journey, reminiscent of trips to the market with family. Unlike typical American bakeries, this spot captures the unique self-service style where patrons grab a metal pan and tongs to select their own fresh-baked items from the "baked wall," filling their pan with favorites like **Conchas** or other unique sweet breads. This interactive and communal approach creates an atmosphere of warmth and tradition.
While the bakery specializes in sweets—renowned for its colorful pastries and custom cakes—it also boasts an impressive menu of authentic, savory Mexican items. High praise is often directed toward their **TAMALES**, described as "so so so good," especially the chicken with green sauce (which offers a desirable hint of spice) and the cheese and jalapeño tamales. This dual focus makes 5 de Mayo an essential Clearwater destination, whether you're starting your day with a traditional Mexican pastry and coffee or looking for authentic flavors for a celebratory meal or quick breakfast.

It is definitely "worth choosing" primarily for the **Authentic Mexican Experience and Pan Dulce**. This bakery provides a cultural touchstone that is rare in the region. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Ordered a tres leche cake here and it was dry and overpriced.. Paid $50 for a 10” inch cake and tasted like a sponge cake. I asked multiple times when I put the order in to make sure it was a tre leche cake and still they reassured me that it would be.
June 05 · E Lam10/10 would recommend! This small bakery brings me back to when I was a child and would go with my family to market with my family. My favorite part about this trip was going to the baked wall and pick out all the fresh baked goods and put on a pan! Highly recommend the Concha's or any of the sweet breads! TAMALES!!! I had the chicken with green sauce(a little spicy) but so so so good and the cheese and jalapeño tamale were good as well. I will definitely be a regular now!
August 26 · Kayla valdezA M A Z I N G. I live in Tampa and came here just for the bakery I found on Yelp. I was so happy that the reviews lived up to my expectation. Fresh conchas and fresh pan/buñuelos. The cakes all looked amazing and definitely would go back to get some pastries. They had fresh tortillas ready to go. I even scored some tamales before checking out. I'm definitely going back!
