★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I occasionally stop by this store. Great personnel and good variety of foods to choose from.I visited Babushka not too long ago, got their muraveynik cakes. They had 2 different options and I got both to try. Absolutely tasteless, no filling…
June 19 · KarinaI’ve been to at least 20 different Russian delis along the West Coast and this one was probably the worst I’ve been to.For starters, there is an entire wall dedicated to expired goods; but these are not just things nearing expiration or recently expired — but things that have been expired for YEARSEven among the normal selection of allegedly unexpired goods, I found things like Milka chocolate which was expiring in just five days. Shouldn’t this be on the rack with the other stuff? There were no pastries or warm food baked, so I will not comment on that since I couldn’t try it. But perhaps the strangest experience here was when we inquired about some tea behind the counter and the clerk just aggressively threw them on the table, as if we were inconveniencing her by shopping, and then frantically put them back on the shelf while we were in the middle of comparing them? The whole thing was just bizarre. In any case, I know we all have bad days, and sometimes situations can be misinterpreted, so I’ll give this place a second chance the next time I’m in the Portland area but my first impression was not good.On the plus side, the selection of frozen pelmeni was very nice. The selection of imported goods in general is acceptable. Lots of juices and waters. Lots of teas. Lots of candies. There were minimally some cakes and macaroons available, but they were remarkably expensive.
July 05 · Miklos Sahin-TothStraight fire. Food is delicious & desserts are pure heaven! Our attendant was super helpful, patient & informative! She juggled other customers extremely well in between our questions & inquiries (we've never been to a Russian bakery before). We were offered samples of most items we asked about & our experience was amazingly quick & we left with happy, full bellies (& almost $200 worth of food, drinks & baked goods)! Would definitely recommend & will definitely return again!
April 20 · Betty BIt's a deli and they are Russian, got myself a few slices of birthday cake. I'm coming back for more cake. Fun place if you are looking for an adventure.
July 23 · Penny FUsed to enjoy coming here but the people behind the counter are so rude. Their desserts are way too expensive but quality went down. AT LEAST IF the staff was nicer I would still come since it's closest to me, but not worth it anymore.
