★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Birdee is such a lovely addition to Williamsburg!Beautiful interior with lots of attention to detail and plenty of space to chill, chat, and work. The pastries were so delicious, especially the Boston Cream Croissant and Garlic Knot Pretzel — the perfect sweet and savory combo!Service and hospitality was also incredible, and the general manager, John, was so kind and attentive.Would definitely come again and highly recommend :-)
July 11 · Ella ChangThis place is well designed, a lot of attention to details, materials, and nice plants. If you care only about the setting, this is your place. However,if you're looking for amazing pastries you might be leaving disappointed.By the time I reached the counter, there were a lot of empty trays so my selection was primarily based on what non-savory was left available. The food looked great, but almost everything i tried was underwhelming.- The fruit tart cream tasted good, but the shell was way too dry making it unmanageable to eat.- The pain au chocolate was way too dry and with no flavor, this was one of the strangest I ever tried.- The olive oil cake was very good but the portion was ridiculously small.Lastly, the dog situation was very annoying. I understand that it's not easy to manage, but the amount of animals was way too much for a food establishment (this at 8:30 AM on a Saturday morning).Dogs aside it was ok, but I don't think I'll be back any time soon.
April 19 · Alessandro FratiSharing my honest review of the pastries from this hottest new bakery in Williamsburg:Located in the historic Refinery Domino, Birdee is an artisanal, upscale bakery and all-day café with a spacious, well-designed dining area. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to find a table even on the weekend.Led by Michelin-starred pastry chef Renata Ameni, the pastries are meticulously crafted with a professional touch. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality and attention to detail make them well worth it.*Lemon Meringue Croissant $10 ***Quite possibly the best lemon meringue pastry I’ve ever had. The croissant was filled with a zesty lemon curd and topped with a toasted swirl of meringue. The meringue was incredibly light and fluffy.*Pepperoni Pizza Croissant $8 **This savory croissant was my second favorite. The lamination was flawless—neat, uniform, and beautiful. Each bite had an extra crispy crunch, and I appreciated how the pastry felt light and flaky without being greasy or overly buttery.*Garlic Knot Pretzel $8They heated up the garlic knot for us and served it with a marinara dip. It was soft, warm, and had just the right amount of garlic. While it didn’t quite taste like a pretzel, it was a solid garlic knot overall.*Sun Gold Tomato Danish $12We spotted a fresh batch of the daily special tomato danish, so we ran to the counter to grab one. However, it ended up being my least favorite pastry. The center was loaded with feta and possibly goat cheese (though it wasn’t listed on the label). I’m not a fan of goat cheese, and the overly creamy filling put me off after the first bite. At this price point, I was expecting something a bit lighter and more refreshing.
June 18 · Ruby ChanLoved the pastries…the ones left. Ok it was the opening day but being there at 9:30 am and waited 10 minutes for a Latte and a black coffee and being able to choose only between two types of pastry…a bit disappointing.Update: still disappointed. No carriers for coffees as they put them in a bag but no bags for the pastries box.
April 19 · caterina del soleIf you're in Williamsburg and craving a top-tier croissant, Birdee is your spot. This new bakery and all-day café, helmed by pastry chef Renata Ameni (formerly of Eleven Madison Park and Crown Shy), has quickly become a buzzworthy destinationFoodThe croissants here are a standout—flaky, buttery, and executed to perfection. Whether you opt for the classic pain au chocolat or venture into inventive flavors like churro or pepperoni pizza, the lamination is spot-on, and the texture is delightfully crisp. On the other hand, the olive oil cake doesn't quite reach the same heights. While it's moist and subtly flavored, it lacks the memorable punch found in other offerings. It's pleasant but doesn't leave a lasting impression.ServiceService at Birdee is friendly but can be a bit overwhelmed during peak hours. It's advisable to arrive early to secure your desired treats.AmbianceLocated in the historic Domino Sugar Refinery, Birdee boasts a sleek, modern interior with ample natural light. The atmosphere is lively, often bustling with a mix of locals, food enthusiasts, and the occasional stroller brigade. Despite the buzz, the space maintains a welcoming vibe, making it a pleasant spot to enjoy your pastry and coffee.TakeawayBirdee delivers on its promise of exceptional croissants in a stylish setting. While the olive oil cake may not steal the show, the overall experience is satisfying. Just be prepared for potential crowds and the possibility of popular items selling out quickly. If you're a pastry aficionado, Birdee is definitely worth a visit.
