Bread Basket Reviews
I've heard a lot about this bakery and its wonderful owner, so I made a special trip to it from East Rock (New Haven) today. I got there twenty minutes before closing. Getting to know this hospitable person, as well as pizza and bread, was my reward. Everything else was already sold out before me, unfortunately. A wonderful place, and I hope to get to know it better in the fall.
July 02 · Andzor KabardWent in here for the first time on Saturday - it has a great local, laid back feel and the owner is incredibly friendly. When I tried to pull out my credit card he said "Oh sorry we don't take cards, but if you don't have the cash you can come back some other day and pay." Sampled a couple pastries and an Italian loaf - all a great value at their price point. **Note that they close for the summers and re-open early September.**
September 16 · Sonya SawtelleOk if you’re looking for some bougie patisserie this isn’t it HOWEVER, this place has the character, charm and personal touch that has been all but destroyed in our culture. Andrew is the best. His baked goods are a lost art and so is the feel of his shop. It is as unique and retro as he is and that is a GOOD thing. He’s one of the few left that knows his customers by name as they walk in and strive to make sure everyone is treated well sure he takes weirdly long vacations and leaves hilarious messages on his phone. But that’s the appeal of this bakery. They make Swedish pastries and bread that you can’t find anywhere. But above all it’s Andrew and his family run bakery. If you want Impersonal Dunkin baked goods baked in a factory in who knows where this ain’t it. Bread and Basket is like visiting Main Street USA that my grandparents reminisced about.Give them a try!!!
December 15 · Kevin ButterfieldSoups, bread, and other baked goods are fantastic, owner is very friendly and welcoming. My only complaint is that I can’t get there more often! Definitely worth a trip. Get there early or you’ll have slim pickings, everything sells quick
May 22 · icarusfxI ordered one of everything in thecase! Everything was wonderful. Berry muffins were loaded with berries...didn't need any butter. Even tasted great the next day!
