More than just a traditional bagel shop, Call Your Mother is a “Jew-ish” deli and coffee shop that has quickly become a cornerstone of the D.C. food landscape, known for its playful, creative approach to comfort food and, most importantly, its exceptional, freshly baked bagels. For those living in or visiting the District, Call Your Mother in Logan Circle offers a daily dose of "Good Food, Good Vibes, Good People," making it an essential stop for breakfast, brunch, or a satisfying midday meal.
The concept of Call Your Mother was born from a desire to create extraordinary moments out of everyday life, centered on carbohydrates and nostalgic, bold flavors. The ownership team brings together a unique blend of culinary backgrounds, drawing inspiration from eclectic family traditions and the sweet toastiness of Montreal-style bagels. What is worth choosing
While every item on the menu has its merits, Call Your Mother has earned its stellar reputation through a few standout offerings that locals rave about. If you are a first-time visitor, these items are highly recommended to get the full flavor of the Call Your Mother experience.
The single most recommended item is undoubtedly the
THE SUN CITY
. This sandwich encapsulates everything the deli is about—a perfect marriage of sweet and savory with premium, well-cooked ingredients. The inclusion of spicy honey drizzled over the egg, cheese, and protein on an Everything bagel provides a unique flavor profile that elevates it far beyond a standard breakfast sandwich. Customer reviews repeatedly cite this as a “game-changer” and their absolute favorite. For those seeking a meat-free alternative, the Impossible™ sausage or No-Meat Sun City options still deliver the same great flavor combination. For a more traditional deli experience with a signature twist, try one of the other creative bagel sandwiches. The menu often features other signature breakfast bangers that receive high praise. For example, the
THE MOON RIVER
is a classic combination of turkey bacon, egg whites, American and cheddar cheeses, and spicy honey on a Plain bagel, offering a lighter yet still flavorful option. TheTHE THUNDERBIRD
, with local chicken maple sausage, egg, American and cheddar cheeses, and spicy honey on a Maple Salt & Pepper bagel, is another excellent option for those who enjoy a blend of sweet and savory.Beyond the signature sandwiches, make sure to sample the
3 Latkes with apple jam & sour cream
from the Sides section. These crispy potato pancakes are a fan-favorite, lauded for being perfectly prepared and gluten-friendly. Finally, for a sweeter treat to complement your coffee, you cannot go wrong with the bakery items. TheChocolate Babka Muffin
is a must-try, combining the decadent, comforting flavors of babka with the convenience of a muffin, while the classicBlack & White Cookie
offers a taste of traditional deli nostalgia. The high quality of the house-made schmearz is also worth noting, particularly the richCandied Salmon
cream cheese. In short, for your first or next visit to Call Your Mother Deli in Logan Circle, choose an iteration of the Sun City, pair it with a coffee or a specialty latte, and make sure to grab an order of the Latkes for the full, delicious, and authentically "Jew-ish" D.C. experience.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This is my second visit two days in a row and it won’t be my last! I just moved to DC alongside a cohort of other UCDC students and we’ve been looking for cafes to try. So far I’ve had the Pumpkin Latte and Horchata Matcha latte and Sun City and Moon River bagel. 🥯 This place is super delicious and offers a variety of well served bagels and drinks. Staff are super friendly, Sean was very kind and welcoming which goes a long way as someone who is new to the neighborhood. This cafe is also dog friendly since I noticed they offer dog treats and cups of whip cream to visitors with pets. 🐾 I would definitely check this place out while you’re in DC!
September 26 · Leslie VallejoThis shop is adorable! All the staff was super friendly and accommodating, and they have a vegan meat AND vegan milk option. The latkes especially were delicious, and it seems the whole city knew because this place was packed! We got here around 10am and were lucky enough to grab one of the 6 available tables, but people started to pack in soon after. The cappuccino, sun city bagel, and cheddar bagel were all great too. Will definitely be returning on my next trip to DC!
June 17 · Zoe MetaliosTried this spot recently and it definitely lives up to the hype. I had an Americano, and it was surprisingly good smooth, rich, and just strong enough to kickstart the day. The real star, though, was the za’atar bagel flavorful on its own, but even better with egg whites and turkey slices added in.The staff was upbeat and friendly, which added a great energy to the place. Only downside? The bagel sandwich prep was a bit slow, so not ideal if you’re in a rush. Still, with reasonable prices and great vibes, I’d definitely come back.
July 22 · Hani ZiadehCame by on a Sunday morning and it was really packed! The inside is quite small so I was waiting in the line outside of the restaurant for a few minutes, as the line moved real quick.Placed my order and got my BLT bagel within less than 5 minutes. Overall, a tasty bagel! Be prepared to pay up, however- this place isn't cheap.Overall a nice spot. Be ready to not be able to get a table, but you'll be getting a good bagel.
August 17 · Billy TuHands down the best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had. I ordered the Sun City bagel sandwich with impossible sausage. It was delicious and the spicy honey was a yummy touch. The iced coffee and chocolate chip cookie were also a hit. Service was fantastic and everyone was friendly. I highly recommend.
