What is Worth Choosing
For residents in Riverside seeking authentic, high-quality Mexican baked goods, Chela’s Bakery #3 is a worthwhile destination. The most compelling reason to choose Chela's is their specialization in pan dulce that is praised for its soft texture and genuine flavors. The experience of walking into a bakery filled with fresh, traditional pastries is a draw that supermarket bakeries simply cannot replicate.
The consensus from the community often highlights the Conchas as a must-try. These iconic Mexican sweet breads are a testament to the bakery's focus, known for their soft, spongy base and sweet, crumbly topping that is perfect for dipping in coffee or hot chocolate. They are arguably the most popular item and represent the best of the bakery's traditional offerings.
However, it is important for prospective customers to manage expectations regarding consistency. As with any small, local bakery, quality can occasionally vary. While the bakery’s reputation generally points toward delicious products, customer feedback suggests that sometimes items like large seasonal breads (Rosca) may not meet the high standards of their everyday pastries, or that specific batches may be dry. For this reason, new visitors are advised to begin with the small, signature items like the Conchas and other pan dulce to experience the bakery's best work.
The convenience of the location, coupled with amenities like the free, accessible parking lot and acceptance of all major modern payment methods, makes Chela’s Bakery #3 a superior choice for a quick, culturally rich dessert or morning treat in the Riverside area. It is a genuine local alternative to larger chain options, providing a direct link to authentic Mexican baking traditions. For those looking for that specific taste of classic pan dulce and a great cup of coffee, stopping by this local Riverside gem is definitely worth the visit.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I just bought some bread, and it tastes nasty! Overpriced too! It tastes old and of low quality. The guy was also in the back, and I had to call for help. I was going to return the bread, but it is not even worth it, to me. In the trash it goes! 🗑 I am not sure why this place has great reviews. I will just go to El Super next time. 👎
October 01 · R RA$20 for a Burnt rosca 😤 i usually go to the one in Moreno Valley because the bread is so good! I thought this one would be just as good but i guess not. Rosca was dry on the inside and burnt on the bottom, and no flavor.
January 06 · Jocelyn SanchezWould love to give them 5 stars but every time I go in I end up getting bread that feels like it might be a few days old, nothing wrong with it just a bit harder than the bread baked the same day. If they would let customers know what bread is from a previous day it would be awesome, I go to bakeries for freshly baked bread not for day old bread
February 12 · Rodrigo IbarraThis location #3 is in a great spot. I like that they stay open till 7 on the weekends. Not many panaderia's stay open this late. They do take cash and card with a $1 processing fee. This place is well kept, organized, and clean. This made me feel comfortable buying for the family. I can't remember the price per bread or how much I paid, but it was worth it. Great quality, so the bread is really good. I read a sign that they have tortillas. I was hoping for corn tortillas. Unfortunately, at the moment, I have planty flour tortillas. Next time, I will go in to try the tortillas. I also overheard that they also serve champurado. I'll be trying the champurado on my next visit. There was a bit of a line at the time of my visit. Moved pretty fast. The cashier was profitable.
February 05 · SamWent to go get some coffee after I took a sip out of it I told the girl in the front that the coffee was too water down. She got mad and asked if I wanted her to add more coffee, I said yes and she gave me the worst attitude. The second coffee she gave was filled to the rim when I went to grab it I spilled it all over my hand. The lids provided spill and their no available trash can. Ended up spilling more extremely hot coffee on my self to a point that I just had to drop the cup to the floor. Worst experience every!!!
