★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1- I recently visited this charming little pastry shop run by a young Mexican owner I saw on the news. Upon entering, I noticed it was just me, the young owner, and an older woman—perhaps her mother, aunt, or an employee.During my visit, I saw someone pick up one of the large, beautifully crafted bread wreaths. Curious, I asked about it, and while I was told it was bread and not cake, there wasn’t much explanation about its significance or connection to any tradition. I felt this was a missed opportunity to share a meaningful cultural story, especially since it seemed tied to a Christian holiday.I ordered a Mexican coffee, which was delightful. The blend of brown sugar, cinnamon, star anise, and other spices was rich and comforting. I also tried an empanada since most of the bakery case was reserved for pre-orders or stocked with items like tres leches cakes, which aren’t my preference. The empanada itself was tasty, but when I asked for it to be heated, it seemed microwaved, leaving the crust a bit soft instead of crisp. It was also cold in the middle. While the flavors were enjoyable, I couldn’t shake the feeling of being slightly unwelcome. Aside from a greeting when I entered, there wasn’t much interaction or warmth throughout my visit. In a small local shop, especially one with such rich cultural offerings, I had hoped for a bit more hospitality and engagement.Overall, the food and coffee were good, but a warmer, more inviting atmosphere would have made the experience exceptional. - A small pastry shop in downtown Albany with some character and a must stop for people with a sweet tooth.I first got to know about this through a yelp event. I would definitely stop by to get the chocolate flan and the tres leches.Service was quick. The front end staff and owner were friendly. October 28 · Nischinth Sadhak
- Daisies Pasteles is a gem in Albany. Since Leo’s bakery( Ontario St.) went out of business years ago, Albany had been lacking in a neighborhood bakery. My significant and I went a second time this past Sat. for Daisies tacos. The quality of the filling in the tacos is excellent. We had the steak and chicken tacos. We asked fir a side of beans. I ordered tea and they have an elderberry tea by Yogi that hit the spot on this drizzly evening. We bought a couple of her pecan muffins to have another day. The cafe is artistically decorated and fresh flowers are on the tables. The ambience at Daisies ranks with cafes in N.Y.C. I will make a visit early morning to have Mexican coffee. Thank you Daisy for bringing a cozy space and excellent fare to Albany. May 05 · Rita Sullivan
- I went for the first time yesterday. The decorations are so pretty and the second you walk in it smells delicious. The owner is very sweet and friendly. I got fresh concha’s and tres leches. Both were absolutely delicious, I will definitely be back and look forward to seeing this young talented business owner grow her business! April 11 · Brittney Krajewski
- I just stopped there and I love it. The bakery items are perfect and authentic. The coffee is brewed with cinnamon sticks and brown sugar so it tastes great black. And their weekend foods are amazing. I just had tamale verde, and I might (will) go back tomorrow for it again or tacos. I definitely recommend it. August 24 · Darren Palmer
