Del Norte Bakery #3 Introduce
For Texans craving authentic, fresh-baked goods, few places hold the local significance of a well-established panadería. Del Norte Bakery #3, located right here in Dallas, is a perfect example of a local business deeply rooted in tradition and community. This spot isn't just a place to grab a quick snack; it’s a destination for traditional Mexican sweet bread, known as Pan Dulce, and celebrated for its specialty cakes and other savory items that satisfy a diverse range of cravings. As part of the respected Rivas family’s legacy, which began over 30 years ago, Del Norte Bakery #3 continues to deliver quality and tradition to the Lake June Road neighborhood.
The bakery is a true reflection of the rich, multicultural food landscape of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Stepping inside, customers are greeted by the delightful aroma of fresh-baked goods and the visually appealing array of colorful pastries. While one customer noted the shop's age, describing it as an 'old, stand alone bakery,' this very characteristic contributes to its authentic, neighborhood charm. It speaks to a history of dedicated baking, far removed from the sterile feel of corporate chain bakeries. It’s a place where the simple, classic recipes shine brightest, maintaining a commitment to freshness and reasonable prices that the community appreciates.
For many Texans, pan dulce is a comfort food, best enjoyed with a warm cup of coffee or hot chocolate, especially as the weather cools. Del Norte Bakery #3 serves this cherished tradition perfectly. While one recent review indicated that the sweetness level of some items wasn't to one particular palate's liking, the sheer volume of customers who patronage here—and the widely reported family success of the Del Norte chain—confirms its position as a go-to spot for the majority of local residents seeking these traditional flavors. The bakery is particularly known for items like conchas, empanadas, and tres leches cakes, items that are foundational to Mexican-American baking culture in Texas.

What is Worth Choosing
Choosing what to buy at Del Norte Bakery #3 should be guided by their established specialties and the incredible value they offer. For first-time visitors or those seeking the bakery’s most reliable, praised items, the focus should be on their core strengths: the signature cakes and popular sweet bread varieties.
The Tres Leches Cake: This is arguably the family's most celebrated item. Tres leches cakes are a staple of celebratory desserts in Texas, and Del Norte’s version is a best-seller across its locations. This is a must-try for any true Dallas-area dessert enthusiast, known for its moist texture and rich, sweet flavor. Customers planning a special occasion should consider ordering one of their specialty cakes.
Traditional Pan Dulce: The sweet bread selection is the heart of any panadería. While individual preferences on sweetness vary—as noted in a customer review where one individual found some items lacking in sweetness—the vast majority of patrons are highly satisfied. The prices are incredibly reasonable, with most pastries costing around $1.00 each, making it easy to create a custom box of assorted items. For sweet bread, look for:
- The colorful Conchas (shell-shaped sweet bread).
- The Pineapple Empanada, which one customer specifically singled out as delicious.
- Traditional favorites like Bolillos, Cuernitos, and Armadillos.
The Savory Option: If available—and it is a major specialty of the Del Norte family—the Tamales are highly recommended. Tamales are sold by the dozen or half-dozen and typically come in varieties like chicken in tomatillo, pork in red sauce, or bean, cheese, and jalapeño. These are a hearty, authentic Mexican food item that often sells out quickly, serving as a perfect contrast to the sweet pastries.
Ultimately, Del Norte Bakery #3 offers Dallas users a connection to traditional, high-quality Mexican baking at a great price point. While the selection of goods may vary depending on the time of day, planning a quick, early visit is well worth the effort to secure a box of fresh pan dulce and perhaps a slice of their best-selling tres leches cake. It is a true local institution that serves up sweet tradition daily.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My hubby was craving Mexican sweet bread and we found this bakery on Google. We were driving by and they seemed closed, but luckily they were not. I bought a few pieces of my favorite sweet bread 😁 We tried them when we got home. I loved the pineapple 🍍 empanada, but the others weren't sweet enough for me. The customer service was good and the prices are reasonable. I ended up throwing the rest away, it just wasn't palatable to the both of us.😩 ***Again, this is my own opinion!!! I'm sure there's individuals who patronage here .
July 18 · Matilda RiosMy first visit, it's stand alone bakery. It's old, it's to be expected in the neighborhood it's in. The inside is an open atmosphere about 7-10 cases. There are 3 cases to choose from, and I went around 9:30. They only had a limited amount of bread. When does someone need to go for the bakery to show fully stock. I bought 8 pcs, so it was $8. I'm given them a try, and I will be back for an update.
November 04 · Melissa MartinezMy family & I had been going to this bakery for years. Their bakery is so fresh and very delicious. Some of the bakery make different of pan dulce 😋 the ones I love is with oatmeal and Splenda mix together. Never can go wrong with that. Best time to have pan dulce when the weather change to cold or when camping out with fam and friends 💯💯💯 I definitely recommend ya to come and try their bakery goods 😊
May 31 · Gigi GarciaI recently visited Del Norte Bakery, and I have to say, it's an absolute gem! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the warm, inviting scent of freshly baked goods. The selection is impressive, with everything from delicate pastries to hearty breads. I tried the pan dulce, and it was perfectly fluffy and delightful, with just the right amount of sweetness. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, offering great recommendations. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a treat or grab something to go. I’ll definitely be back! Highly recommend!
January 07 · sebastian reyesPeople please be aware when ordering cakes from here. I ordered a full sheet cake and sent them images of what I wanted. When I went to picked it up, I was presented with this cake. When I asked why the image didn’t cover the whole cake they told me that they don’t make big images so they doubled it. I was never informed that they didn’t make big images or told the changes they would be making. Sad to say I took the cake anyways bc it was for a school function. Make sure you get all the info so this doesn’t happen to you. I’m out $130 for this cake but I hope the kiddos enjoy it.
