Devil's Teeth Baking Company Introduce
For those living in or visiting the California Bay Area, particularly San Francisco, finding a local gem that excels in crafting genuine, comfort-driven food is a high priority. Devil's Teeth Baking Company, located on Balboa Street, is one such legendary spot. It has earned a fiercely loyal following among local users for its exceptional baked goods and its commitment to making rich, satisfying meals that truly hit the spot. This is not your typical delicate, high-brow pastry shop; this is a place where the food is robust, delicious, and, as one reviewer proudly states, "not for the faint of heart."
The foundation of Devil’s Teeth’s fame lies in one simple, yet perfect item: the biscuit. Customers consistently rate the biscuits as 10 stars—flaky, soft, and buttery—the ideal vehicle for their hearty, signature offerings. This quality is central to their main draw, the breakfast sandwiches. The highly praised Special Breakfast Sandwich ($14.00) is a true delight, built upon that legendary biscuit and "loaded with scrambled eggs, bacon, and avocado." It is a meal designed to satisfy the deepest hunger, ensuring that after "both sandwiches were gobbled down," as one customer noted, dinner is completely unnecessary.
Beyond the biscuits and breakfast sandwiches, the bakery offers a surprisingly extensive menu that solidifies its status as a reliable, all-day food destination. From classic lunchtime sandwiches like the Tuna Melt ($13.00) and the quintessential BLT With Mayo And Mustard ($14.00), to baked goods like the Cinnamon Roll ($8.50) and a variety of freshly baked cookies and muffins, the focus remains squarely on high-quality, generously portioned fare. They also cater to the purists with their house-made Sourdough Loaf ($10.00), a staple of the San Francisco food identity, which serves as the base for items like Sourdough Toast With Butter And Jam ($4.75) and the *Sourdough Only* breakfast sandwiches.
The ambiance of the bakery is also part of its unique charm. It is "decidedly no-frills," delivering on food while keeping the setting "casual—very casual." This adds to the authentic, local neighborhood feel, proving that world-class flavor doesn't require pretense. It’s a place for a "relaxed morning," where you can embrace the "chaos of a delicious messy biscuit," making it a beloved institution among Californians who value substance over style.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Devil’s Teeth Baking Company, a spot that delivers on food but keeps it casual—very casual. My wife and I tried the Special Breakfast Sandwich, and wow, what a treat! The biscuit is flaky and buttery, loaded with scrambled eggs, bacon, and avocado. The vibe of the place is decidedly no-frills. While it adds to the charm for some, it might not be the ideal spot for a first or second date unless you’re both ready to embrace the chaos of a delicious messy biscuitIf you’re in it for the food (and not the ambiance), Devil’s Teeth is a must-try in the neighborhood. Just maybe save it for a relaxed morning rather than a romantic outing.
January 04 · francisco sanchezHere is my review of Devil's tooth Baking Co. Outer Richmond. The food is not for the faint of heart. Definitely be ready to throw down. I enjoyed the regular breakfast sandwich and later a BLT for lunch. After both sandwiches were gobbled down I did not need dinner. The biscuits are 10 stars, flaky, soft, and buttery. Honestly, I always hurt myself eating here but the pain is enjoyable. I highly recommend a visit.
February 27 · Eddie ValadezI had seen so many good things about this place on social media, that I couldn’t wait to get back SF to give it a try. Unfortunately, it fell quite short. We had the special breakfast sandwich, the cinnamon roll, the beignets (which are only available on Sunday) and a latte. The Special breakfast sandwich was the best of anything we received. All of the bakery items including the biscuit on the sandwich felt heavy and dry. They lacked a light and fluffy aspect. The biscuit was buttery and flakey but dense and tended to be dry on the bites with no aioli.I had heard the most about the cinnamon roll and could not wait to try it. Be aware, it comes cold. If you want it gooey melting with cinnamon, you need to ask them to warm it up. It is full of cinnamon and sugar but again, the dough felt dry.The beignets were not the airy, light texture you expect and would not order them again. The biggest disappointment was the latte. When I first received it, it was cold. And I mean…..cold!! It was in a warm take away cup (not plastic for iced) so there wasn’t a mistake with the order. It was a weak, watered down shot of espresso with cold milk on top. I took it back and the person working the register questioned me so I asked him to take it to the sink and put his finger in it.He obliged and when he felt how cold it was, he looked at the barista and confirmed it was in fact cold. The barista made me another one. While it was slightly warmer in temperature it tasted terrible. Extremely watered down. It tasted like water with a teaspoon of espresso and barely warm milk. I threw it out.Maybe I visited on an off day but since we went out of our way while visiting SF to try this place, it was a disappointing experience.
June 30 · Jo KFriendly staff and lots of seating, inside and outside. Easy parking on the street. My order came out wrong but was immediately and sweetly fixed. I highly recommend the super breakfast sandwich! Delicious! Will come back if in the area again. Was a recommendation from a local friend.
April 08 · Tammy FarrisThe people working there are super nice and the cinnamon roll is pretty good. You do need to warm it up though because the carmelized sugar is hard. The breakfast sandwich is ok. Not packed with flavor, but hearty and fresh.
