Dirty Dough Introduce
Dirty Dough Tempe: Gourmet, Stuffed Cookies for Arizona's Sweet Tooth
When the craving hits for a dessert that’s truly next-level—something rich, dense, and overflowing with gooey fillings—Arizona locals turn to Dirty Dough. Located in the heart of Tempe, this isn't just another cookie shop; it's a specialty bakery that focuses on "super-stuffed cookie bombs" that are engineered from the inside out. Dirty Dough was, in fact, born right here in Tempe, starting as a delivery-only service out of an Arizona State University dorm room in 2018, which adds a wonderful local touch to its history.
The name “Dirty Dough” itself hints at their unique approach: the cookies are delightfully messy and imperfect, bursting with layers, mix-ins, and fillings that deliver an exceptional flavor experience. This focus on the "inside" of the cookie ties into the brand’s deeper message of authenticity and self-acceptance, reminding customers that “it’s what’s on the inside that counts.” For anyone in the Tempe, Mesa, or greater Phoenix area looking for a decadent treat that breaks the mold of traditional baked goods, Dirty Dough is a must-try destination.
Customer reviews consistently praise the cookies for being incredibly moist, delicious, and expertly crafted. Patrons rave about the melt-in-your-mouth, ooey-gooey texture and the generous size, often comparing a single cookie to a substantial piece of cake. While they may be considered a bit pricier than your average grocery store cookie, the quality, size, and sheer indulgence make them well worth the cost for a special treat.

Features / Highlights
What sets Dirty Dough apart from other bakeries in the Valley is its dedication to a unique product and a memorable customer experience. Here are some of the standout features that keep Arizona locals coming back for more:
- Super-Stuffed Cookie Bombs: The signature feature is the cookie’s structure—thick, multilayered, and aggressively stuffed with fillings, mix-ins, and sometimes even other cookie elements, resulting in a unique, gooey center.
- Weekly Rotating Menu: While they offer classic flavors year-round, a fresh selection of rotating specialty cookies is introduced each week, providing a continuous variety of new and exciting options. This keeps the choices deliciously 'scrumptious' and hard to narrow down!
- Dessert Focused: The primary dining option is dessert, making it the perfect spot for a post-dinner indulgence or a mid-day sweet break.
- Variety of Beverages: To complement their rich cookies, they offer a selection of beverages, including Coffee, 1% Lowfat Milk, 1% Lowfat Chocolate Milk, Bottled Water, Rockstar Original, Starbucks Mocha, and Starbucks Vanilla.

What is Worth Choosing: The Dirty Dough Difference
Choosing Dirty Dough is about opting for an experience as much as it is about choosing a dessert. While there are many cookie shops, the philosophy and product at Dirty Dough create a unique offering for the Arizona market.
The Quality and Indulgence: Customers consistently highlight the superior quality of the ingredients and the sheer decadence of the cookie. These cookies are not just large; they are packed with flavor, moisture, and generous fillings, living up to the promise of being an exceptional treat that's better than similar "fancy" cookie companies. They offer a density and complexity of flavor that makes each bite a satisfying journey through different textures and tastes—from crisp exterior to gooey, layered interior.
The Concept: The brand’s message—that life and cookies are messy and that's okay because "it's what's on the inside that counts"—resonates with many. It turns the simple act of eating a treat into something more meaningful, even if just for a moment. This focus on internal substance over external perfection is a fun and refreshing take on the gourmet dessert market.
The Rotating Variety: With an eight-flavor weekly rotation, patrons have a hard time getting bored. The menu constantly features new and exciting combinations, meaning you can visit frequently and always find something new to try. Customers who have tried six or more different flavors often express that they absolutely loved the variety and quality across the board. The classic flavors, such as the staple Chocolate Chip, remain consistent crowd-pleasers, but the weekly specials are truly where the magic happens.
Whether you are looking for an indulgent afternoon pick-me-up, a crowd-pleasing box for a gathering, or simply a single, decadent "cookie bomb" to satisfy a major sweet craving, Dirty Dough in Tempe provides a distinctly Arizona-rooted, gooey, and delicious solution. It's a sweet spot that understands a cookie should be more than just a baked good—it should be a rich, messy, and truly memorable experience.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Recently we ordered these delicious cookies from dirty dough. They have a rotating cookie menu so you will have a hard time choosing between these deliciously scrumptious options. I tried 6 different flavours which I absolutely loved. Order your box of cookies now.
February 11 · Meghana JainMelt in your mouth, ooey gooey cookies! We stopped here while out and about checking out Tempe/Mesa area. Yes they are a little pricey (on par with similar "fancy" cookies companies) but they are so much better! If you are looking for a nice little treat for yourself, this is the place to check out.
February 05 · Jonathan FloresWhat a nifty specialty cookie shop! They have the weekly varieties on display on the counter. On my visit, they had eight cookies on offer. The lady behind the counter enthusiastically explained the options and made them all sound fantastic. I could only choose one, though, and went with the Reese's Reverse. That cookie was like a fat dome! She added a fresh drizzle of chocolate sauce and sprinkled on Reese's cereal pieces. It was packed in a handy orange box that kept it safe for the trek afterward. I ate the cookie a few hours later. Wow, but it was good. The outside had a rich peanut butter flavor, crisp yet chewy in texture, with an interior stuffed with chocolate. This was a chocolate and peanut butter lover's dream come true. On my visit in September 2022, it was $4.25 with tax, but considering the size, I think it was a good deal. This thing is comparable to a piece of cake, a major treat.
September 07 · Beth CatoSo, I really didn’t want to like these because I hate the name of the place. But just tried and they are excellent. We got 4 flavors, pop tart, caramel chocolate, peanut butter and jelly with white chocolate, and peanut butter cup. The flavors are fantastic and they looked beautiful in the box. Only deducted 1 star because they are so messy and gooey that you need a fork to eat them, also a tad sweet for me but really so good!!!!! These would be perfect with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. No photos before the tasting. 🤪
March 04 · Allison KylerBest. Cookies. Ever.Let me preface by saying I’m not the biggest sweets person but my goodness! They were beyond delicious, I loved the Reese’s one most of all. When I’ve had other gourmet cookies I’ve felt drowned in sugar by their icing and can barely finish a quarter piece. But I can honestly say I almost the whole cookie here at dirty dough. I will definitely be returning!
