For a first-time visitor or a returning local, the choice can be overwhelming due to the sheer variety. However, the collective wisdom of the Coppell community points toward a few items that truly make Donut Palace shine. It is recommended to choose a mix of the sweet and savory to get the full, authentic experience this Texas donut shop offers.
Savory Must-Haves: The Kolaches
Do not leave without trying a kolache, affectionately known here as a sausage roll or 'Pig in a Blanket.' These soft, slightly sweet yeast dough pockets are filled with various savory meats and cheeses. The Small Sausage, and Cheese kolache is a great starting point, priced affordably around $1.99. For those who enjoy a bit of heat, the Small Sausage Jalapeno & Cheese is a popular choice. For a truly hearty Texan twist, the gourmet kolache options, like the BBQ Brisket Kolache or the Fancy Breakfast Kolache (featuring sausage patty, egg, bacon, and cheddar cheese), are well worth the price of $3.49 and are a unique step up from the standard fare found at other shops. Many patrons agree that these are "hands down the best Sausage rolls in the greater Dallas area," a claim that makes them an essential choice.
Sweet Favorites: The Classics and Cake Donuts
When it comes to the sweet side, the long-standing favorites are the best. The classic Glazed and Chocolate Donuts are consistently fresh and delicious. However, many reviews point to the Blueberry Cake Donut as a non-negotiable choice—a moist, flavorful cake donut that has garnered a significant following. The Buttermilk and Old-Fashioned donuts are also highly praised for their texture and taste. For a classic jelly experience, one customer noted that the jelly-filled raspberry donut was "delicious" and "ample sized," a testament to the satisfying quality of their filled options. Don't overlook the Apple Fritter or the Cinnamon Roll for a larger, fancier treat, perfect for sharing (or not!).
The Complete Breakfast Combo
To maximize your visit, order a combo that represents the best of Donut Palace: a dozen mixed donuts (featuring the Blueberry Cake and Glazed options), a couple of Small Sausage and Cheese Kolaches, and a hot cup of their "Great coffee." This combination provides the quintessential, friendly Coppell breakfast experience that has kept locals coming back for over three decades, making Donut Palace a true local treasure in Texas.

September 15 · Angel Anjean'vieveAlicia here is awesome! The 4 stars are for her and the one star deduction is for the owner lady. Alicia is careful to get the order right, is cheerful, polite and greets guests, and is always happy to quickly whip up our order if they don’t have enough. The owner (?) lady isn’t as nice, is hard to communicate with, and doesn’t really seem to care if she gets the order right and doesn’t feel the need to explain or be nice if they have run out of what you’re ordering. My kids like the donuts here, so we will return, but wish the owner was a little nicer. And of course - we are always happy to see Alicia at the counter.
April 28 · A KarthikI visited Donut Palace on two separate occasions. The first time was alright, but the second time, which is now my last time, was not so good. They required a minimum of five dollars to use my card—who even carries one-dollar bills anymore? The donuts were okay, I'd give them three out of five for quality. What really ruined my experience was the chocolate milk, which cost $3.50 and tasted expired. It was horrible and ruined my whole experience. On the positive side, the store was clean, the donuts were cheap, and the staff was decent. Overall, I'd give it three out of ten. This is just my personal opinion, so don't take it too seriously, but it might not discourage you from coming here.
July 27 · Ameen ShawwaSad to write this review as this used to be our favorite donut shop, just walking distance from us. We have taken our girls since they were of walking age. We would go every Saturday morning.Unfortunately, in the last couple of months my family has experienced discrimination from both the owner and her staff. They are hesitant serving us, not sure if it’s due to us being mixed Latino/south Asian. When we come in they purposely skip over us, and kindness and respect is not shown. This is not a single incident, this has happened 6 or 7 times in a row.I hope no other person in the community is experiencing this type of mistreatment, as Coppell is a very close knit community, honoring respect and fair treatment of it’s residents .Wish this store the best, however we will be taking our business to the donut store across from CVS on MacArthur/Sandy Lake, driving distance now but no discrimination.
June 19 · Adriana RanganiI’m not one to leave a bad review but I feel like I need to say this. Went there so happy to find a place like that near me. Went in the customer service is very poor she was very mean and rude when I asked if the sausage rolles had pork. This is my first time and last for sure.
