For residents and visitors across the Pennsylvania region, particularly those with a sweet tooth or an interest in outdoor pursuits, this business offers an unparalleled and memorable experience. This article aims to provide a clear, engaging, and informative overview of what makes Donuts & Ammo such a distinctive and highly recommended destination. We'll delve into its convenient location, highlight the diverse services and products it offers, explore the features that truly set it apart, and ultimately explain why this one-of-a-kind spot is perfectly suited for locals seeking both delightful treats and practical supplies.
Donuts & Ammo is not your average bakery, nor is it your typical sporting goods store. It's a fascinating fusion born from two strong passions: baking and hunting, as shared by owners Paul and Victoria Di Biase. Opened in the fall of 2021, this family business in Montrose aims to provide a service like no other in Susquehanna County and the surrounding areas. Victoria, with a deep love for baking inherited from her mother, challenged herself to master donut making, creating scrumptious yeast donuts handcrafted fresh daily with over 30 flavors. Paul, on the other hand, inspired by an ammo shortage during early COVID times, decided to offer a convenient local option for firearms and ammunition. This unexpected but highly effective combination has created a business that is "super organized and clean," run by "top notch" service, and consistently surprises customers with the quality of its offerings. It’s a place where you can indeed "get loaded up in more than one way," making it a must-visit curiosity for locals throughout Pennsylvania.
---Donuts & Ammo is strategically located at 21508 PA-29, Montrose, PA 18801, USA. This address places the unique establishment just outside downtown Montrose, along Route 29 North, making it highly accessible for both local residents of Montrose and those traveling from various parts of the Pennsylvania region. PA-29 is a key state route, ensuring straightforward navigation for individuals arriving by car from different directions. Montrose, as the county seat of Susquehanna County, is generally well-connected by roadways, providing reasonable access from neighboring towns and communities.
The accessibility of Donuts & Ammo is a significant advantage for its diverse clientele. Its location on a state route means it’s easily visible and convenient to pull into, whether you're making a dedicated trip or just passing through. Ample parking is typically available, making it easy for customers to stop by, grab their desired items, and continue on their way without hassle. One reviewer noted that there isn't indoor seating, but "they do have some outdoor seating," which provides an option for enjoying your donuts on-site. For those involved in outdoor activities like hunting, its placement on a main road often used to access rural areas further enhances its convenience. While public transportation options in a rural area like Montrose might be limited compared to major metropolitan centers, the primary mode of access for most customers would be private vehicle, for which the location is well-suited. This ease of access contributes significantly to the appeal of Donuts & Ammo, ensuring it can efficiently serve its unique customer base from across the Pennsylvania landscape.
---Donuts & Ammo offers a truly unique dual-service model, combining two seemingly disparate but highly complementary categories for its specific customer base. Here's a breakdown of their primary services and product offerings:
Handcrafted Yeast Donuts: This is the bakery aspect of their business. They specialize in scrumptious yeast-raised donuts, made fresh daily in their shop. Owners Paul and Victoria are dedicated to continuous flavor development, offering a rotating selection of over 30 flavors. This extensive variety ensures there's always something new to try. Some classic and popular flavors include:
- Boston Cream
- Bavarian Cream
- Apple Filled
- Jelly
- Angel Cream/Vanilla Cream
Ammunition Sales: Complementing the donut offerings, Donuts & Ammo stocks a range of ammunition. They aim to source the ammunition that customers need and want, and while availability can vary, it is a core goal to keep a supply. They house roughly 30-40 types of ammunition and various handguns and rifles. This service directly caters to hunters and shooting enthusiasts in the area.
Firearm Ordering and Transfers: Beyond just selling ammunition, Donuts & Ammo holds a federal firearms license, allowing them to order firearms at wholesale prices and facilitate firearm transfers. This provides a valuable service for individuals looking to purchase specific firearms legally and conveniently.
Merchandise: Customers can purchase branded merchandise, including stickers ("buy a sticker") and other items like t-shirts, hoodies, beanies, and trucker caps, featuring their "pretty cool logo." This allows patrons to show their support and take a piece of this unique business home.
Snacks and Drinks: For those who might not be donut lovers but still need a quick treat, or for those just passing through, they offer a cooler and snack counter stocked with various snacks and drinks.
Business Delivery for Donuts & Fundraising Opportunities: Donuts & Ammo offers business delivery services for large donut orders. They also actively participate in fundraising opportunities, such as their significant 2023 fundraiser where they made and delivered over 184 dozen donuts for Montrose Area 8th-grade students.
Gun Bingo/Raffle Options: They also engage in community events related to firearms, such as gun bingo and raffle options, further integrating their unique business model into local interests.
Donuts & Ammo stands out with several key features and highlights that make it a truly exceptional and highly recommended destination for residents throughout the Pennsylvania region, especially in and around Montrose. These attributes are consistently lauded by their diverse customer base.
Unique Business Model: This is arguably their most defining feature. The combination of a high-quality donut bakery and an ammunition supplier is unheard of, creating a truly memorable and practical stop for their target audience. This innovative approach has garnered significant attention and makes them a talking point.
Exceptional Donut Quality and Variety: Despite the unusual pairing, the donuts themselves are "NOT disappointed" and "amazing," with customers finding it hard to decide what to get due to the sheer number of "different flavors." The description of their yeast donuts being "crispy on the outside, soft and chewy in the middle" speaks to their mastery of donut making. With over 30 flavors, they cater to a wide range of preferences.
Top-Notch Customer Service: Reviewers consistently praise the service as "top notch." The ability to "determine what assorted dozen donuts actually means" (a common frustration at other shops) highlights their efficiency and clarity in communication. Staff are described as "polite, quick, and courteous," ensuring a pleasant and smooth experience for every customer.
Clean and Organized Shop: The shop is noted for being "super organized and clean," which contributes to a positive and professional atmosphere, especially important given the dual nature of the business.
Convenience for Outdoor Enthusiasts: For those with hunting camps or an interest in shooting sports around the area, the ability to get "some ammo at a good price" while also grabbing a fresh donut is an unparalleled convenience. This caters directly to a significant demographic in rural Pennsylvania.
Strong Brand Identity and Merchandise: The business has a "pretty cool logo" and offers merchandise like stickers and apparel. This strong branding allows customers to connect with the unique concept and show their support.
Community Engagement: Through business delivery for donuts and participation in fundraising events (like the one for Montrose Area 8th-grade students), Donuts & Ammo actively engages with and supports the local community, demonstrating their commitment beyond just commerce.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Came all the way from Minnesota to have donuts and we were NOT disappointed. All the flavors we tried (and we tried a bunch) were amazing. The hardest part was deciding what to get. My dad, who is a local but had never visited, was able to get some ammo at a good price. There isn't any seating indoors, but they do have some outdoor seating. They have a fun logo - buy a sticker. Thanks Donuts and Ammo!!
July 17 · Laura Sushorebaso leaving a review on a place like this is interesting because to my knowledge, nothing else like it exists and so with that being considered, you look at the Service, which is top notch not only did they answer the phone, but we’re able to determine what assorted dozen donuts actually means which is crazy to think is difficult these days but try doing that at other donut shops and you’ll be on the phone a lot longer than you think. so you go in and exactly what you expect is there however the different flavors of the donuts and quality of them is quite surprising and unexpected considering what we’re talking about. The shop is super organized and clean and they’ve got a pretty cool logo and some merchandise at that.A very interesting place and as far as anybody with a hunting camp around there, you definitely should stop in.
July 16 · Brad SciulloBought some clay 12ga shells and a fresh peanut crusted donut made in house.Attentive staff catering to questions regarding their stock and donut options.Glad places like this still exist…Support small business and support who you love. February 20 · Michael DiRaffaeleThe custard in the Boston Creme donuts is so good! This place is awesome and the staff are always so friendly. My son loved the bfast sandwiches. He ate 2! The variety of the donut selection is crazy and the fact it's all made by hand, fresh is the icing on the...donut!
September 03 · Court HThe donuts are to die for-no joke, and the people who operate the place are easy to get along with, talk to, & do business with. I enjoy living down the road from there. I'll definitely be coming back.
