Dottie’s Donuts Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For residents of Pennsylvania seeking an exceptional bakery experience—whether you follow a plant-based diet or simply appreciate a masterfully crafted sweet treat—Dottie's Donuts has become a celebrated name. Specifically, their location at 5105 Rochelle Ave in the Roxborough/Wissahickon section of Philadelphia offers a delightful sanctuary for donut and coffee lovers. What truly sets Dottie's Donuts apart is their unwavering commitment to being an entirely vegan operation. Using non-dairy ingredients like coconut milk and natural egg substitutes, they’ve perfected a donut recipe that patrons often say is indistinguishable from, or even superior to, traditional varieties. This dedication to quality and inclusivity has helped Dottie's grow from a wholesale business in 2014 to a multi-location success story, earning them a devoted following across the city. The core offering remains the freshly made, yeast-raised donuts, but the menu extends to other baked goods and a full coffee program, ensuring a perfect pairing for any craving. Visitors should be aware that their popularity often leads to items selling out, particularly later in the day, a testament to the freshness and local demand for their creative, ever-changing flavors. The Rochelle Ave shop is primarily focused on providing quick service for takeout and delivery, making it an ideal stop for a convenient, high-quality indulgence.
The atmosphere of the bakery is centered around efficiency and the product itself. While some past visitors have noted that the shop space can be small, lacking seating, and on occasion uncomfortable due to temperature, the focus here is clearly on the amazing baked goods you are taking with you. The bakery's reputation is built on the deliciousness of its vegan offerings, often highlighted by long-time customers who love the consistency and unique rotating flavors. However, like any popular spot, customer service experiences can vary, and prospective patrons should manage expectations regarding staff demeanor and interior comfort, concentrating instead on securing those coveted donuts.

- The Boston Cream Donut ($3.75): This is often cited by customers as a game-changer, with some reviewers even stating it is the "best Boston cream donut ever," prompting them to re-evaluate their prior feelings about the flavor. It is a must-try for both vegan and non-vegan patrons.
- Daily Rotating Specials (Deluxe Donut at $3.00, Daily Filled Donut at $3.75): The bakery is famed for its creative and seasonal flavors. - Fritters ($4.25): The Fritter is a consistently praised sweet treat, providing a different, often crispier, texture than the classic yeast donut, perfect for those looking for something extra satisfying.
It's important to keep in mind the noted customer feedback regarding the overall experience. While the products are widely praised for their deliciousness, patrons have occasionally remarked on the pricing being slightly high compared to mass-market donuts, though many conclude they are "totally worth it." Furthermore, a small number of customers have mentioned less-than-friendly interactions with staff and a tight, uncomfortable interior space. Prospective customers are encouraged to focus on the excellent quality of the vegan treats and to visit earlier in the day to ensure the best selection before items are sold out, thereby maximizing the chance for a five-star sweet experience from this local Philadelphia favorite.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Heard so many great things about Dottie’s Donuts and unfortunately my donuts were not good.Firstly, the shop itself was warmer than 80 degrees. It was hot in there. I got 3 donuts - vanilla sprinkle, oreo and blueberry for $10 (kinda pricey). As you can see, the vanilla sprinkle left a lot to be desired. There was no vanilla frosting and a couple of sprinkles? It was also very chewy… odd.Maybe this location had an off day but I was confused as to how this place has rave reviews when it was quite literally the worst donut I’ve had.
May 28 · Ariana LucidonioThe donuts are delicious but pricey—sometimes you ponder whether they are worth it. The shop is small, nowhere to sit and barely space to stand, but that’s okay because who would want to hang around the grumpy worker? He’s enough to not make me want to come back. Maybe find another line of work if serving yummy donuts isn’t your thing? It just makes the entire experience eh even if the donuts are good.
September 13 · Andrew KlimasDelicious vegan donuts. They must be lying because these taste like real donuts...Maybe some of the negative reviewers had some later in the day or something, but ours were soft and not dry at all!We will definitely be back.Pricing: it's like $2-3/per donut... And a little more for brownies and cinnamon rolls. For those complaining, have you been to Crumble, a single cookie is $4.99...I don't think they do 1/2 dozen or dozen pricing though, everything is a la carte.
August 01 · Zaman EidFirst time trying this donut shop. Found it by looking up donut shops in the area other than the big chains. Didn’t realize they were Vegan not that would make a difference cause I’ve eaten a lot of Vegan restaurants that were good. You do spend more on a dozen donuts here assuming it’s because of the alternate ingredients. Donuts were ok. The Boston Creme is typically my favorite but these tasted off and couldn’t get thru a whole one. The cinnamon bun was good. Honestly this is a one and done experience.
February 01 · Jeremy STried this location, as well. The consistency of the donuts is equally as good compared to one of the other locations I visited. I tried the blueberry glazed this time and it's my new favorite! Again, a non-vegan who loves these donuts!
