Doughnut Plant Introduce
In a city with no shortage of exceptional bakeries and sweet treats, Doughnut Plant has managed to carve out a legendary status for itself. A true New York institution, this donut shop is not just another place to grab a glazed confection; it's a destination that has been redefining the art of the donut for decades. When a craving hits for something truly special, something handcrafted and bursting with flavor, locals know to seek out Doughnut Plant. The name is synonymous with quality, creativity, and a deep-seated passion for perfection. From their unique square-shaped donuts to their inventive flavor combinations, this is a place where every item is a work of art. The experience is both nostalgic and modern, a testament to the fact that while some things change, a perfect donut remains a timeless pleasure.
The story of Doughnut Plant is as unique as the donuts themselves. It began in 1994 with Mark Isreal, a passionate baker who started the business in the basement of a Lower East Side building. His goal was to create a donut that was unlike anything else on the market—made from scratch, with a focus on all-natural ingredients and a dough that was both light and flavorful. He famously invented the filled square donut, designed to ensure every bite had a taste of the filling, as well as the first-ever crème brûlée donut. His commitment to innovation and quality quickly garnered a loyal following, and Doughnut Plant grew from a single basement operation to multiple locations across the city and even internationally. Despite its growth, the core principles remain the same: a dedication to hand-crafted excellence, a refusal to use eggs or trans fats, and a constant drive to create new and exciting flavors. The Brooklyn location on Flatbush Avenue is a proud part of this legacy, bringing the same high standards and incredible donuts to a vibrant and diverse community.
The Brooklyn location of Doughnut Plant is conveniently situated at 245 Flatbush Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11217. This prime spot places the donut shop in a bustling and dynamic part of the borough, right near the heart of Prospect Heights and a short walk from Prospect Park and the Barclays Center. The area is a hub of activity, with a mix of residential buildings, local shops, and cultural institutions. For those traveling by subway, the accessibility is excellent. The Atlantic Av-Barclays Center station, a major transportation hub, is just a few blocks away, providing access to the 2, 3, 4, 5, B, D, N, Q, R, and W lines. This means that whether you're coming from another part of Brooklyn, Manhattan, or Queens, getting to Doughnut Plant is easy. The neighborhood’s vibrant energy and foot traffic make it an ideal spot to grab a coffee and a donut before a game, a concert, or a leisurely stroll through the park.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Doughnut Plant on Flatbush never disappoints. I had the strawberry shortcake donut this time. It’s not quite a traditional donut, but it tastes amazing and totally satisfies the craving. The tres leches cold brew was smooth and just sweet enough. Service is always friendly and fast, even during busy hours. They were out of my favorite crème brûlée donut, which wasn’t a surprise since it was late in the day. These are hands down the best donuts in New York and quite possibly this side of Atlantic Ocean. They are the perfect size, which makes it easy to try a few different flavors in one visit. Other donut shops tend to make donuts that are just too big. I keep coming back whenever the donut craving hits. Highly recommend.
July 18 · maciek macakIf you’re looking for the most delicious donuts stop here! Every donut is carefully crafted to perfection. The service was excellent! The staff was friendly patient and helpful and served us with a smile! 11/10 recommend this donut shop to satisfy all your sweet needs! We enjoyed the black and white donut, vanilla bean donut and vanilla bean with jam! Donuts available individually or in counts of 4 :)
January 05 · jillian lattimoreGreat cup cakes, very friendly personal. We are from Germany, it was a great Experience eating your with love backed food! Thanks for that.
February 03 · Merlin BauerOf course everyone is happy about these doughnuts, but omg - their espresso drinks and chai masala are so fine! Stop the mad waste stream by getting your cappuccino in an aesthetically pleasing cup and saucer (by "notNeutral"). They have a couple of their own roasts and retail the coffee beans and the chai. Improvement on other chai in that it is seeped and NOT from those sweetened boxes of syrupy chai. Also, they have 3 cold drinks: horchata;cold brew; and a strawberry lemonade. I once tried the horchata with a shot of espresso, so works as a sweetened rice milk/milk alternative iced latte. My doughnut of choice has changed. I now favor the coffee cake, which is a moist coffee doughnut and has cake crumble on top and a bottom filling of marscapone coffee. I have passed through my creme brulee intoxication. And I love the marcona almond doughnut for a salty crunchy departure from mere sugar high. Stick that in your coffee and smoke it, why dontcha?!I also enjoy the amusing decor of doughnut ceramic tiles, triangular seating, and the architectural interior stonework embellishments. Kid friendly and Instagram friendly!
May 13 · Ma BaQuite possibly the best donut I've ever had! We got the Peanut Butter and Jam and my gosh, after that firdt bite...we couldn't hold it in and devoured it. Perfectly soft inside and the blueberry matched incredibly well together with the peanut butter coating on the outside. I am most definitely coming back to try the other flavors of donuts!
