★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Garden Bakery - cute little dumpling shop specializing in all the delicious plates of dim sum we love. So many older men/grandpa's in here enjoying their morning coffee/tea and morning baked goods. We felt this was pretty authentic !!!!Tried a few items as I walked through Chinatown in downtown San Francisco. Easy to point at the food, order, pay, leave.
June 28 · Monalisa RamsaranBEST pineapple bun hands down in the universe! And I'm Asian! Served warm and fresh from their oven, this bun is out of this world. Go pass the friendly old guys who are there all day, and a super nice lady behind the counter will give you the best .. did I mention BEST...pineapple bun!!Also tried the other hot buns which were REALLY good, but the Pineapple bun is king!
July 09 · Li-Hsiang ChungWe got egg tart, it chinese style which has thin crust and light sweet. They have a lot of chinese baked products there. I would like to try more. The atmosphere was quite old and unique. We got really good service from auntie, she was so nice and kind. I used cash to pay but I dont know if they receive card or not. They have some tables to sit down inside too.
August 06 · T-bone_SkvThis store reminds me when I visited Hong Kong and glad it still exists, the ladies are very friendly and bakery very delicious just like original Hong Kong.
August 12 · minilan BrownFound another favorite bakery. We stopped by pretty late on Saturday (6:15pm) and this is one of the few bakeries still open. They have lots of moon cake in the display case. For baked breads, it's more tucked away from sight. You have to ask for it!We got plain pineapple buns, cocktail buns, sponge cake, and egg tart. All are quite affordable. The cocktail buns are heavy!I know golden gate bakery has the most famous egg tarts, but I personally find it too sweet still. Garden bakery egg tart hits every mark in my book!I thought they were Portuguese egg tarts due to the caramelized top. They are not too sweet and the custard is rich. The crust is firm but not too thick. It was $3 for 2 (not sure if it's cheaper due to close to closing time). They reheat well in oven. The pineapple bun is also great. We ate it the next day and reheated in toaster oven. Good top, bread is light and chewy. Again, not too sweet.I will 10/10 return. I'm glad I have another go-to bakery.Reminder, like most Chinatown businesses, it's Cash only.
