Grateful Bread Introduce
Introduction / Overview
Grateful Bread is a deeply rooted and cherished institution within the Wedgwood neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. Operating as a multifaceted establishment—part bakery, part cafe, and part delivery restaurant—it has served the local community for many years, building a strong reputation based on exceptional quality and friendly service. This is not merely a place to grab a quick coffee; it is a full-service culinary hub committed to crafting everything from scratch, daily, without using any preservatives, GMOs, or corn syrup. The focus is on local, organic, and sustainable ingredients, giving Washington customers a superior and healthier product.
The core of Grateful Bread's identity lies in its baked goods. Long-time customers rave about the loaves of freshly baked bread, particularly the multi-grain, which is recognized as a fantastic value and superior to store-bought alternatives due to its lack of preservatives. Beyond the breads, the cafe has perfected the bagel, generously paired with house-made whipped cream cheeses like the highly recommended sun-dried tomato and basil variety. Whether you are craving a savory soup, a decadent quiche, or a sweet treat like their "DIVINE" almond croissants, Grateful Bread offers a consistently excellent menu in a warm, welcoming, and inclusive setting.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I love this place and have gone here for many years! Their bagels are delicious and they give you loads of whipped cream cheese. My fave is the garlic bagel. Their loaves of freshly baked bread are fabulous and such a great deal! A whole loaf of multi-grain, sliced is around $7.50. It will keep for up to a week in the fridge, so much better than store bought that’s loaded with preservatives. Their soups and quiches are delicious and for a sweet treat, their almond croissants are DIVINE!
August 24 · Judy SI have been coming to Grateful Bread for years. I always love the food, coffee and other drinks. I highly recommend a bagel with the sun-dried tomato and basil cream cheese. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Looking forward to my next visit!
September 14 · delaneyListen…I’ve been coming here for decades. I love it. The baked goods are the best, and until recently the sandwiches were a go to.In the past month or so the Monday food crew has been failing every single Monday without fail. Constant mess ups, things missing that I pay extra for, blatant disregard of what’s on the ticket (no mustard, then drenched in mustard …?). I brought it up with a staff member who’s been working there for a while. They assured me it’s a training issue, bought my breakfast, and I was hopeful!!! Went on a Tuesday and the food was back to perfection!! Until today…the dreaded Monday. I ordered what I get every week, and checked before I left…because Monday crew. Of course the cheese was missing, which I pay extra for….so I ask if they can add the cheese to my sandwich, and the person just hands me cold pieces of cheese to add myself. I mean I can definitely do that, but like really? A huge bummer that the food keeps getting messed up. Hopefully the review will spark change because clearly the conversation I had with that staff member didn’t do the trick.
September 22 · Arielle Chilcote-BarnardMy husband and I went to Grateful Bread for lunch over the weekend. It was our first time there. We were both very pleased with our sandwiches. He got the BLT on sourdough and I got the chicken salad on rustic Italian. Both sandwiches were delicious! The bread and fixings were fresh, his bacon was amazing, my chicken salad was top notch. We also ordered a ginger molasses cookie to share. The cookie was very gingery and delicious. We will happily return, it was a wonderful spot for lunch.
September 10 · emily pWhether it's for a quick lunch or a chill place to get some work or study done, this is the place I would go!My friend and I came for lunch on a Thursday around 12:15p. Upon entry, there was a long line, however, it moved very quickly. Despite the long line, it was not crowded once everyone sat down.I got the Chicken Caprese Panini and a cup of tomato soup which came out quickly and warm. This was definitely my comfort food on a cold, rainy Seattle day. I got the almond croissant to go for breakfast tomorrow. The best part of this place? They have a private parking lot. Even if the parking lot is full, it is pretty easy to park in the neighborhood and walk over. Highly recommend!
