Hong Kong Bakery & Deli Introduce
Introduction / Overview: A True California Fusion Institution
For California residents in the South Bay, Hong Kong Bakery & Deli in Torrance is more than just a bakery; it is a beloved, family-owned culinary institution that has been faithfully serving the community since 1982. This unique establishment masterfully blends the rich flavors of traditional Chinese cuisine with the hearty, tropical notes of Hawaiian specialties, creating a remarkable fusion experience that is deeply woven into the local food fabric. The breadth of its offerings is truly impressive, catering to every craving from a quick pastry for Breakfast to a full Dinner or Lunch Special, and everything in between.
The core of their fame rests on their renowned Hawaiian-style dim sum, particularly the Manapua—a Hawaiian take on the traditional Chinese Bao. Their most famous creation, the Char Siu Bao (BBQ Pork Manapua), is a must-try item that embodies their fusion identity. They proudly state that their customers have enjoyed over 24 million Manapua since they opened their doors. While celebrated for their savory foods and robust Hawaiian BBQ Plate Lunches, the "Bakery" part of their name is equally vital, featuring an expansive selection of tea cakes, pastries, and truly unique cake slices. For those seeking authentic, filling, and flavorful food with a distinct Pacific-influenced flair, Hong Kong Bakery & Deli is an essential Torrance destination.

What is Worth Choosing
For anyone in the Southern California area looking for a distinct and satisfying meal, Hong Kong Bakery & Deli stands out due to its incredible culinary diversity and deep-rooted history. The most compelling reason to choose this establishment is its authentic and high-quality fusion of Chinese and Hawaiian cuisine, a combination few places execute so successfully.
First, prioritize the signature items that have cemented their reputation: a dozen of their Siu Mai (pork dumplings) or the fan-favorite Kalua Pork Manapua. Even if a mix-up occurs, as one customer noted, the Char Siu Manapua is so good it can win over non-enthusiasts, a true testament to its quality.
Second, utilize the deli for a complete meal. Opt for one of the Hawaiian BBQ Plate Lunches for a filling, all-in-one lunch or dinner. The combination of sweet teriyaki chicken, macaroni salad, and steamed rice is a classic taste of the islands right here in Torrance.
Finally, do not overlook the bakery component. The unique chiffon cake slices, especially the Neapolitan cake or the tropical flavors like Guava and Haupia, offer a distinct and superior dessert experience, noted for being both large and reasonably priced. Whether you are grabbing an item from the A La Carte menu, ordering a large Dim Sum Snack Pack, or simply enjoying the private outdoor seating, Hong Kong Bakery & Deli offers an unbeatable and delicious taste of Chinese-Hawaiian fusion that has delighted the Torrance community for over four decades.

Hong Kong Bakery & Deli Reviews
I went in for the Kahlua pork manapua and unfortunately there was some miscommunication and I received the char siu manapua instead. Although I don't usually like the sweetness of char siu I still enjoyed them. I will definitely return and hopefully get some Kahlua pork manapua next time.
August 23 · Juan ZunigaFirst time ordering here and was pleasantly surprised. Delicious food that is very filling. Need to add cake slices to the door dash menu.Update 5/27/24Came back for my 2nd visit and took plenty of pictures of the cake slice assortment. They have a lot of unique cakes here at a great price. The cake slices are very BIG compared to 85 degree bakery. I highly recommend the Neapolitan cake. It tastes just like the ice cream 😆I got a couple of cakes and a dozen Siu Mai (pork dumplings) I also mentioned to them they still don’t have cake slices available on door dash. They are potentially missing out on a lot of profit 💸 There is a nice private patio outside where you can cool down and enjoy your food ❤️
May 28 · Kumbi VanWe drive all the way from Pomona just for the baked Manapuas. I also enjoy their Honey Twist, I've had them before but today they were very good, no greasy mouth feel, just delicious
July 21 · P. DominguezHong Hong Bakery was a good take out Chinese Dim Sum restaurant. They also have a small sit-in location out side. The Dim Sums are very reasonably priced, much cheaper than at the restaurants. It is understandable because they do not have overheads in servers, busboys, or dishwashing, sitting places, tables&chairs, etc.The steamed char siu bao ($2.15) is not very good, not tasty at all, and it is not of Chinese traditional cut-up BBQ pork. It's like pulled pork, destroying the traditions. Had very little BBQ meat in it. Order something else. The Ham Sui Goks ($1.25) are very good, large, and very tasty. The price is outstanding. Everyone should order them, highly recommended. The egg custard tarts ($2.80) are of poor quality, expensive, not very tasty, very eggie taste, not soft and fluffy as a traditional custard tart.
March 13 · L. LeongI bought bbq pork chow fun. It tasted smokey. Maybe it was the bbq pork, but it permeated the noodles & veg too. Didn't taste good. But theirshu mai is good.
