Katich Breads Introduce
Introduction / Overview
For residents across the Illinois region who appreciate the craft of traditional baking, Katich Breads has become synonymous with authentic, soul-nourishing goods. This is not a typical walk-in bakery filled with fluorescent lights and mass-produced items; Katich Breads is an artisan operation built on the noble philosophy of European village baking. Their story is rooted in a desire to replicate the inspiring, high-quality loaves and pastries that come from family-owned bakeries, valuing fermentation, quality ingredients, and the emotional impact of honest food.
Operating primarily on a pre-order and farmers market model, Katich Breads specializes in meticulously crafted, naturally fermented breads and unique specialty croissants. They are highly regarded for taking simple ingredients—such as organic wheat flour and sea salt—and transforming them into loaves with remarkable depth of flavor and texture. Their product line includes everything from exceptional baguettes requiring 36 hours of guided fermentation to their highly praised English muffins. The commitment here is to quality over quantity, ensuring that every customer in the Illinois community receives a product made with genuine care and uncompromising standards.
Location and Accessibility
The central operational address for Katich Breads is located at 516 N Highland Ave, Aurora, IL 60506, USA. It is crucial for local users to understand that this address functions as the production and designated pickup location, rather than a traditional, daily retail storefront. Their primary business model involves producing goods for pre-orders and then selling directly to the public through various regional farmers markets and the Aurora pickup location.
Accessibility is maximized through multiple avenues for the Illinois customer. While the physical Aurora location is noted to have a Wheelchair accessible parking lot, the most common way to access their products is by planning ahead. Customers can place orders online for Takeout at the Aurora hub or visit one of the many suburban farmers markets they attend. This model caters to a Quick visit for pre-ordered goods, perfect for busy locals. Patrons are strongly encouraged to check the official Katich Breads website for the current schedule of farmers markets they attend throughout the state, ensuring they know exactly where and when they can pick up their fresh bread and pastries.

Katich Breads stands out in the competitive Illinois food scene due to its unique commitment to quality and tradition, which is reflected in several key features and customer-lauded highlights.
- Exceptional English Muffins: Highly praised by customers, who often deem them "the best English muffins ever had," noting their unique texture and flavor, and their clean ingredient list without unnecessary additives.
- Commitment to Clean Ingredients: A core business value ensuring that their products are made with high-quality, natural components, such as organic wheat flour, sea salt, and American-made European-style butter.
- Traditional, Long-Fermentation Process: Many breads, like their exceptional Baguette, undergo up to 36 hours of guided fermentation, leading to a complex flavor profile, superior crumb, and bolder crust.
- Specialty Croissant Artistry: Known for their flaky, well-made croissants, offered in both decadent sweet varieties (e.g., Apple Pie) and gourmet savory options (e.g., Smoked Ham Gruyère), often with seasonal rotations.

Address: 516 N Highland Ave, Aurora, IL 60506, USA
Phone: Please note that a specific local phone number is often reserved for administrative or emergency contact, as most sales and scheduling are handled via their website and at market locations. What is Worth Choosing
Choosing Katich Breads is a decision to support uncompromising quality and true artisan craftsmanship right here in the Illinois community. What makes them uniquely worth choosing is their dedication to the 'bread with soul' philosophy. Customers don't just buy a product; they buy a piece of the time and care that goes into a 36-hour fermentation process. This commitment results in a flavor depth that industrial bakeries cannot match, making staples like their Whole Wheat Sourdough or Sesame Semolina truly memorable.
While the pre-order and market model requires a little planning, the reward is significant: getting some of the best English muffins you may ever taste, or a flaky croissant that is genuinely "well made." Furthermore, while the business is committed to excellence, as noted in customer feedback, occasional confusion with complex orders can occur. This is a reminder that you are supporting a growing, hands-on family business, not an automated factory, and any concerns are typically addressed with the care expected from a local artisan. For those in Illinois who value clean ingredients, masterful technique, and a product that is designed to be shared and enjoyed among family and friends, Katich Breads is an exceptional local bakery that deserves a place on your weekly shopping list.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I impulsively grabbed a pack of English muffins at the Libertyville Farmers Market and they turned out to be the best English muffins I’ve ever had. My husband agreed! I was also glad to see they have a clean ingredient list and don’t use any junk.I almost passed them up buying these since they were plain nor were they whole grain, but I’m so glad I didn’t. I’m looking forward to this week’s market and trying more of their products.
September 07 · Jamie SzydloI had heard about how delicious Katich Breads was from a friend and was really looking forward to trying it out. Unfortunately, the woman who helped me was very impatient despite no one being behind me in line. I had ordered 2 sweet croissants and one savory for my family. When I got home I realized the bags weren’t marked so I couldn’t tell which was which. No problem, I’ll just cut into them to figure it out except that they were all sweet. So in addition to being unhelpful, the woman also didn’t give me the correct items. 3 stars because the sweet croissant was very flaky and well made, but it was a very disappointing experience.
July 05 · Janet LehrHad the potato cheddar ciabbata (purchased at the Palatine farmer's market) and holy cow is it phenomenal!! Top 3 best breads I've ever eaten in my life. Beyond delicious.
May 12 · Valerie SeftonNot only do we always buy the whole wheat sourdough and raisin roasted walnut bread loaves on a regular basis at the La Grange Farmers Market during the summer, we have also placed local pick-up orders when farmers markets aren’t open. Their breads are AMAZING (especially the whole wheat sourdough!!) and truly artisanal and of high quality (which is so hard to find these days)! Thank you, Katich Breads!
January 18 · Michele JohannesI purchased the whole wheat sourdough bread, manchego mushroom croissant, and chocolate croissant yesterday. They were absolutely perfect and incredibly tasty. Can't wait to get some more!
