La Bicyclette Bakery Introduce
In the heart of Fort Greene, a neighborhood celebrated for its historic architecture, vibrant arts scene, and lush green spaces, there exists a little slice of Paris that has captured the hearts of locals. La Bicyclette Bakery, with its charming name and even more charming atmosphere, has become a beloved fixture on DeKalb Avenue. This is not just a place to grab a coffee and a pastry; it's a destination that transports you, if only for a few moments, to a cozy European cafe. With an unwavering commitment to classic French baking techniques and high-quality ingredients, La Bicyclette has created a menu that is both familiar and exceptional, drawing in a steady stream of customers from the moment its doors open.
The core of La Bicyclette's appeal lies in its dedication to a small but expertly crafted menu. While many bakeries might overwhelm with countless options, this one focuses on perfecting the classics. The baguette, for example, is not just a bread; it is described by customers as "sublime," a key component of their beloved sandwiches. The croissants are praised for their good quality and flaky texture. And for those with a sweet tooth, the raspberry danish is a standout, a pastry that balances a rich, buttery base with a delightful fruit flavor. This focus on getting the basics right is what makes the bakery so special. It’s a testament to the idea that a simple item, when made with care and skill, can be far more memorable than something overly complex.
Beyond the food, the ambiance of La Bicyclette is a major part of the experience. The bakery has a quaint and inviting feel that encourages patrons to linger. As one customer noted, the seating is "absolutely adorable," making it a "great place to get some work done." This welcoming environment turns the bakery into more than just a place to buy food; it becomes a community hub, a peaceful spot for a quiet moment, or a meeting place for friends. This cozy and charming atmosphere, combined with the enticing aroma of fresh-baked bread and pastries, creates an experience that is hard to replicate.
The bakery’s location, just steps away from Fort Greene Park, is another key factor in its local appeal. The idea of picking up a "ham & cheese or fig jam, Brie & arugula" baguette sandwich and enjoying it al fresco in the park is a simple yet perfect pleasure that many locals cherish. This integration into the neighborhood's lifestyle is what makes La Bicyclette so much more than a business—it's a part of the local fabric. While the weekend crowds might result in a line around noon, as one customer mentioned, this is a clear sign of the bakery’s popularity and the value it provides to the community.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1loved the seating it’s absolutely adorable, great place to get some work done!! the raspberry danish was great but as a raspberry lover i wish there were a few more. croissant itself is good quality.
March 29 · Sydney MarrazzoI love their baguette sandwiches — ham & cheese or fig jam, Brie & arugula — the breads are sublime. Perfect for pick up on the way to Fort Greene Park and enjoying the sandwiches in the park! Expect some line on the weekend around noon
August 24 · Grace YoonI saw a nice review for this place that emphasized on the croissants and I’m always seeking the best croissants from quality bakeries so I decided to give this place a try. It’s located on Dekalb off of S.Elliot pl. There is no sign or mention of la bicyclette anywhere on the bakery but that’s okay it’s findable. I ordered the classic butter croissant and a coffee. The croissant was well layered and had good top and bottom crunch to it with a soft interior. I would say it was certainly baked properly but it was lacking the rich buttery flavor I prefer in artisan croissants. The coffee was good but it was a tad too light of a roast for my personal taste. Friendly staff inside and a nice outside dining area was enjoyable. I was underwhelmed by the croissant but they had a whole array of baked goods to try, perhaps on another visit.
June 11 · Mark KWent out of my comfort zone and opted for the pate sandwich instead of the typical ham and cheese. Pleasantly surprised as the mustard and cornichon tied the flavors well. The view of the park added to the overall experience.
September 03 · Mike Changi come here for the $2 baguettes which makes me overlook the sometimes sassy service.pastries are ok imo, baguette sandwiches don’t get heated up so i’d recommend bringing it home and toasting it with a drizzle of olive oil to enjoy it fully.
