Introduction / Overview
Maryland residents with a love for authentic, high-quality sweet and savory baked goods need to look no further than La Cosette - French Artisan Pastry Shop, nestled in the charming neighborhood of Locust Point, Baltimore. This delightful small business is not just a dessert shop; it is a true pâtisserie that brings the refined elegance of classic French baking right to the heart of Charm City. Stepping into La Cosette is an invitation to slow down and savor treats crafted with meticulous care, time-honored techniques, and only premium, fresh ingredients.
What makes La Cosette truly unique in the Baltimore culinary landscape is the personal touch and rich heritage brought by Chef Ahlem and her family. The shop’s philosophy is deeply rooted in the blending of traditional French pâtisserie—mastered during Chef Ahlem’s time in Paris—with the warmth and flavor influences of North African tradition, stemming from her journey from Tunisia. This fusion results in pastries that are both exquisitely delicate and rich in character. Every bite tells a story of heritage, craftsmanship, and a genuine love for the art of baking. The focus here is on handmade treats, prepared in small batches daily, ensuring maximum freshness, with absolutely no shortcuts or preservatives.
La Cosette caters to more than just a sweet tooth; its extensive menu features a perfect balance of offerings for any time of day. While the visual appeal of their stunning fruit tarts and cream-filled croissants will capture the attention of any dessert enthusiast, their savory selection of crepes and croissant sandwiches makes them an ideal spot for a light breakfast or a satisfying lunch. It’s a true artisan experience that is highly recommended for anyone seeking a fresh, European-style culinary indulgence in the Baltimore area.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Cute little place perfect for grab and go. There is seating available but it is limited and the tables are small. The staff are super friendly and kind; service time could be improved. If you are in a rush this wouldn’t be the spot for you. The prices are great value for the drinks and sandwiches. They will definitely satisfy for a light meal. The dessert case is stunning and will be perfect for any sweet tooth. I ordered the croissant sandwich and iced matcha for eat in then took the pistachio raspberry cake to go.
June 21 · Ellen ArchibaldWe are visiting from out of town and this place was recommended. Needless to say we are extremely impressed! The pastries and food are AMAZING!! We had a larger group and ordered many different items and everything was SO fresh and delicious! The croissants are 10/10! The staff are so friendly and make sure everything is perfect! Wish we lived closer just to come here! We will definitely be back!
July 27 · Monica DanielsI need you to understand how great their fruit tarts are! So delicious! A perfect blend of flavors and textures. Sweet but not too sweet. 😙👌Otherwise, This delightful French bakery has large, delicate, delicious croissants in a variety of classic flavors. I love that they slice and fill their chocolate, pistachio, and almond croissants with the respective filling. I’d rank them above poupon on croissants, and very happy to have them so nearby. It’s within walking distance of most of Locust point, and has street parking in the mornings down fort ave. This will probably become a breakfast staple for me.
February 04 · Alexander ReustleNew french bakery on Fort Ave. It’s required that you order online ahead of time via social media or email, but the chef was able to get our small dishes in the day of with about a 6-7 hour turn around. We ordered the quiche, rolled pizza, and a chocolate tart. All the items were delicious and well crafted. However, the ingredients are not listed in any of those items and it was the impression that the chef changes them day to day based off her creative mood— which I love. If you don’t, make sure to request specifics when ordering! Support local and I hope she opens to walk ins soon!edit: opened for walk ins and we love it here. very European-style. i appreciate the small, well crafted menu!
February 17 · Louisa GtgWhat a fantastic addition to the neighborhood! We came home with a raspberry pistachio cake and a pistachio croissant, and they were both incredible. I also tried a bit of the fresh squeezed lemonade as they heated the croissant, and it was the perfect treat on a summer day - not overly sweet, not too tart. Looking forward to coming back and trying new things.
